💥 Why moving to a new role before Christmas could be a smart move 💥 If you're considering a change within the Irish construction industry, moving to a new role before Christmas has several advantages: 🔹End-of-Year Project Demands With large infrastructure projects and developments ramping up across Ireland, companies are pushing to fill key roles before the year ends. Whether it’s for residential, commercial, or public projects, securing a new job now ensures you’re part of the action before things pick up even more in January. 🔹Less Competition, More Opportunity As many professionals hold off job hunting until the New Year, there’s less competition for construction roles. This gives you a better chance to stand out and secure the position you're after. 🔹New Year, Fresh Start Starting a new job before Christmas allows you to get your bearings and prepare for 2025, which will be a busy year with major projects like housing and public works continuing to drive demand in the industry. 🔹Better Work-Life Balance Many construction companies in Ireland are focusing on improving work-life balance for employees. Moving now could put you in a better position to enjoy the Christmas break, knowing you’ve secured a more balanced and fulfilling role for the New Year. 🔹Strong Pipeline of Projects in 2025 With a robust pipeline of public infrastructure and housing projects planned across Ireland for 2025, now is the time to get involved. Moving roles before Christmas allows you to become part of major projects right from the start, setting the stage for long-term career growth. Take advantage of the strong demand in Ireland’s construction sector, beat the January rush, and start 2025 on solid ground in your new role! #IrishConstruction #CareerGrowth #NewOpportunities #JobChange #ConstructionIreland #ChristmasMoves #2025Projects #FRS #FRSrecruitment #weworkforyou

Crisis Management Principal | Operational Resilience | Business Continuity | Emergency Management | Crisis Program Launch and Expansion | Resume Writer | Career Advisor
Does getting a resilience related degree help you in your career? (Part 1 of 3) Let’s look at the numbers. In a report published by the The Burning Glass Institute, there were several interesting findings. First off, getting a college-level job within the first year of graduating is critical. Graduates who secure a college-level job immediately after graduation are more likely to maintain such positions. 79% of those in college-level jobs remain employed at that level 5 years post-graduation. Comparatively, 73% of those who start in underemployed positions in the first year after graduating, remain underemployed after 10 years. (Underemployed = working a job that typically does not require a college degree) An interesting highlight they made was that graduates with a degree in public safety and security were TWICE as likely to be underemployed than those with degrees in health, engineering, or a math intensive business field. Public Administration degree earners had a slightly more successful college-level employment rate as shown below. I am making an assumption here that Emergency Management / Resilience related degrees would be classified as either in the “Public Safety” or Public Administration buckets. The study did not call out Emergency Management degrees specifically. Public Safety and Security also had the highest underemployment rate (49%) after getting an advanced degree (masters or above). Meaning, almost half of everyone who got a Master’s degree in a public safety related field, remained underemployed post-graduation. Part 2 will talk about if degree level correlates with salary. Part 3 will talk about hiring for skills vs education. Curious to hear what others thoughts are? #EMJobs | #EmergencyManagement | #CrisisManagement | #BusinessContinunity | #Collegedegree | #Career

Tanya Rowell, CEO of the Public Service Commission for the Government of Prince Edward Island (No. 6 on Forbes’ list of Canada’s Best Employers 2024), says that enriching the lives of its employees—not just the Island’s residents— is central to her job. This includes offering mental health coverage, retirement benefits and education and career advancement opportunities. “We want to be able to support our employees as they grow and develop,” says Rowell. She also prioritizes flexibility. “We recognize that one solution doesn’t fit all lives or different people’s needs, so workplace flexibility could mean you start your day earlier and end earlier, or vice versa. Or you work your five-days worth over four days, or maybe you want to do a temporary reduction in hours,” she explains. “It’s just giving people lots of different options,” which is a benefit that Rowell, a mom of four children, appreciates as well.
