According to PwC's recently published Global Investor Survey 2024, 78% of respondents who invest in Singapore say companies should deploy AI solutions at scale, as overwhelmingly 80% expect the companies they invest in to deliver productivity increases from AI over the next 12 months. Notably, investors are also not seeing a trade-off between AI and workers. “Rather than a zero-sum game, our survey also reveals investors’ expectations on businesses to upskill their workforce in tandem with investments in AI” says Patrick Yeo, PwC Singapore's Deputy Markets Leader. My three main takeaways from the EY 2024 Tech Trends - 1. AI Expansion: It's coming whether you like it or not. Generative AI's rapid advancement continues to reshape industries, enhancing creativity and operational efficiency. 2. Digital Trust: Seems like this would table-stakes but continues to be de-prioritized most places. Security and privacy remain critical as companies innovate, requiring a focus on robust governance frameworks. 3. Sustainability Through Tech: Green tech and digitization are at the forefront of driving sustainable solutions, merging business goals with environmental responsibility. I just came across an article and report by the Principal of Policy & Insights at The Economist, and was impressed (but not surprised, because its Melanie Noronha) by how she managed to present such a complex range of topics in a clear, concise, and easy-to-digest format. She covered a range of topics such as the changing landscape of AI investment to the importance of ecosystem partnerships. While the breadth of topics was impressive, I found myself especially drawn to the sections on Gen AI and its incredible potential. Whether you're a specialist or a generalist, there's something for everyone in this report. I definitely encourage a read. (You can find the article and report here: https://lnkd.in/dtdcijy5) Here are just a few highlights from the GenAI discussion: -GenAI is expected to increase productivity by 6-7% and revenue by 3-4%. For businesses, that’s a HUGE leap in efficiency and profitability! -A real life example: DBS Bank’s GenAI-powered virtual assistant reduced customer handling time by 20% while improving response quality. - By automating repetitive tasks, GenAI could cut working hours by up to 40%, freeing up time for more creative or strategic work. This caption is a testament to the last point as I did use Notebook LM to summarise the article, saving 40% of my time. But I know I'll be getting back to this report post 6pm! The full potential of Generative AI is still unfolding, but it’s exciting to see how this tech is already making waves in innovation and productivity. Working at an AI company, I’ve realised the vast potential of AI beyond generative models. If you do want to increase efficiency and profitability in other ways, check out what AI Tech UK is doing. Anyway, I'm done with my monthly LinkedIn post. For all of you who have stayed reading till the end-Thank you- And see you again in a month! 👋 #GenAI #AIforBusinesses #AITechUK #TheEconomist
