[a look back of the last 6 months] Social consultancy is one of the things that I have been doing over the last 6 things but relatively in low profile manner. Why? 1. As a newbie in the profession, I guess it is better to stay humble and learn as much as I can. 2. This profession focuses a lot on client services, esp in terms of idea generations, research and data analysis. All these would take times until some good results would come. After some effort of nearly 6 months, I cannot say that I have achieved a lot, but I am glad, my boat has started sailing along the new journey, esp in terms of #impactinvesting that I believe it would bring synergies in #ASEAN to ▪️ #PolicyMakers , in terms of bringing new market potentials while solving social issues which may have existed for long. ▪️ #ImpactInvestors who are eager see more ASEAN made products ▪️ #Philanthropists that may be interested in non conventional formula of doing good with higher social impact ▪️ #SocialEnterprises which are in demand for both private and philanthropic funds to make their business plan more viable and tackle the social issues from root cause I am grateful for all the support from clients, partners and colleagues who make this interesting lesson possible to me. #TSIC #SDG #ESG

Meet Bolaji Sofoluwe who says #women must muster courage to take risks, boldness to do big things👌🏾💡 Bolaji Sofoluwe has over 20 years of expertise in Africa and the United Kingdom, driving market expansion and international trade activities. Through her role as co-founder and Group Managing Director ETK (Enterprises, Trade and Knowledge) Group, Sofoluwe has a proven track record of strategically positioning businesses from start-ups to established corporates to enter and thrive within complex African markets. In your years of practice, would you say you are impressed with the number of women leading in the public and private sectors? And what can be done to increase or sustain this growth? 
If we look at the broader picture, no. Not entirely. However, my vision is quite skewed because I work with a fabulous group of C-suite women in various sectors/industries and I have learnt a great deal from them. I realise that there is more to be done in various industries. In order to sustain the growth, we need to create clearer career pathways, and have more female champions at the C-suite level, who do not wish to sit there alone, but would like to introduce and coach more women into management roles and leadership positions. How can we get more women to become successful and rise to the top as you have done? What tips do you have for younger women?
My major tip for women is “Know thyself, then specialise.” Make sure you know everything that needs to be known about your field. Be excellent and your gifts and talents will speak for you, and will open doors for you. What do you hope to see African women do differently? 
If I am honest, nothing! We are killing it out there. We must muster the courage to take risks where we can, and the boldness to do big things. I would like to see more female-led acquisitions, and more collaborations – particularly when it comes to taking the global market/space. There is definitely strength in the sisterhood. Emerging MNCs face severe institutional and social challenges and liabilities in foreign markets due to their origin. This paper conceptualizes board gender diversity as a nonmarket strategy. It highlights the use of BGD by EMNCs to gain legitimacy in host countries, overcome the liability of origin, and enhance their financial performance. The paper further suggests that this effect is stronger for firms having Public Relations Functions and also for firms operating in foreign countries with high Institutional Gender Parity. #InternationalWomensDay ⭐ I have dedicated my career to work in #tradepromotion, as I am convinced that international trade is a powerful tool for economic growth. But throughout the years, I started seeing how women were lagging behind. Reading statistics that report, for example, that only 1 out of 5 exporting companies is led or owned by #women, or talking to women entrepreneurs about the real obstacles they face in comparison with their men counterparts, made want to be part of the change and to work towards #genderequality in international trade. Then, when I started working as an independent consultant, I set myself this target of being more involved in projects with a gender lens 🎯 It was difficult to start, because I had no experience to show, "only" my passion for the topic and my appetite to learn more about it 💜 Today, I am so happy to see my projects' portfolio filled with gender and trade related topics! My work has allowed me to meet wonderful women entrepreneurs and leaders all around the world, that are fighting stereotypes and that inspire me to continue working on this. I am also happy to see that for all my current clients, #genderequality is a priority and I am incredibly honoured to be a part of that. Thanks for trusting me and for giving me the opportunity to plan, to co-create and to implement your initiatives directed to increase the participation of women in international trade!
