Why are junior Russian girls attempting more quad Salchows than quad Toes? One explanation is that stopping the skating motion is "easier" with a Salchow than a toe pick. Interestingly, they all use the same jump technique and preparation—it’s the latest trend! When quads first appeared, it was the quad Toe, a tricky jump requiring high technical skill. We saw some skaters miss out on the momentum during the backward part. That's the same on qual Sal. Curious about more analysis in figure skating? Follow us for insights!

What’s the secret to mastering a double axel or a triple jump? I get this question all the time, and it’s a great one! Let me break it down for you. A successful figure skating jump is a blend of multiple skills. **Physically**, you need explosiveness to get off the ice, coordination to control your movements in the air, and a strong core to maintain stability. **Technically**, you must possess high skating skills and a keen sense of rhythm. It’s not just about strength and agility; it’s about timing, precision, and finesse. Imagine launching into the air with perfect timing, rotating with impeccable control, and landing gracefully. This combination of physical prowess and technical expertise makes those jumps so spectacular. So, keep honing your skills, focus on your physical and technical training, and remember, practice makes perfect. You'll be soaring to new heights quickly with dedication and the right approach. Happy skating! 🏅⛸️ #FigureSkating #JumpTechnique #SkatingSkills #PerformLive

🌟 Glute Activation & Power Output 🌟 In skating, loading into our glutes and powering out of them is crucial for achieving that explosive separation and power we need on the ice. 🏒💨 When we properly activate our glutes, we unlock the strength to propel ourselves forward, enhance our speed, and improve our overall performance. Remember, it’s not just about strength—it's about proper #micromechanics and the right muscles doing the work! Let’s focus on glute activation drills today in the gym and on the ice to elevate our skating game! 🔥💪 Some great resources for off ice are: @jefflovecchio @kaifasathletedevelopment @corcoransboxing #techpowerskating #hockeyedgework #hockeycanada #hockeycontrol #skatingactivation #skatingimportance #injuryprevention #injuryrehab #GluteActivation #PowerOutput #TrainSmart #AthleteLife Powered by @bauerhockey Video 📹 @pasquinoproductions

Figure Ice Skating Jump from Easiest to Hardest! ⛸️ The base values of jumps are intended to show the difficulty of the jump, which means that the higher the BV of a jump is, the more challenging it is supposed to be. In practical terms, the outcome can be either easier or harder depending on the skater. Edge jumps are generally harder for some skaters than toe jumps, and vice versa. But, going off the base values, from easiest to hardest: 1. Toe loop 2. Salchow 3. Loop 4. Flip 5. Lutz 6. Axel The axel is widely known as the hardest jump because it has a forward takeoff and therefore requires an extra half revolution.

On March 23, American figure skater Ilia Malininn became the Men's World Figure Skating Champion. His free-skate received the highest score ever recorded in the history of figure skating. When he was asked what he was focusing on to perform at this level, Ilia's answer was deceptively simple: "I rely on my muscle memory." You and I may not be world-class athletes, but we each have our own muscle memory. That's our body's memory of how we show up at our finest, on any given day. Cultivate that memory. Step into it, on a great day and a not-so-great day. Trust your muscle memory to help you navigate the perhaps not-so-easy moments in life. Here is my latest 2-minutes Essentials video: KNOW YOUR MUSCLE MEMORY.
