I love seeing likes and clicks and conversions rack up as much as the next marker, but my favorite projects to work on are the ones where the impact is a little bit 🤏🏻harder to track. The type of brand awareness-building stuff that causes a client to get stopped by their peers to say "I love the content you've been producing!" 🤩 Here's what I mean: I have a client that has gone all-in on brand storytelling this year, and let me run wild with their newsletter. The work I've done has been centered on their products, of course. But because they don't actually sell their products online, it's been more of an exercise of how to bring their brand ethos to life through storytelling. The result is part marketing, part poetry, and SO much fun to create. And our audience can tell we're having fun! Storytelling, after all, appeals to the core of what makes us tick as humans. We want to be swept up and carried away by worlds that are sparkling, joyful, or just flat-out different from our own — if even just for a moment. There is SO much opportunity for brands to lean into this in their marketing, but it's a fact that is so easy to lose sight of in the face of cold, hard data and the need for short-term virality. So here's to the brands that aren't afraid to commit, get creative, and let copywriters like me spin stories instead of chase likes. ✨
