Question: Are long maternity leaves just lip service in India? POV: Policies alone don't cut it. To truly support our employees, we need action. Implement 1) Structured re-entry programs, 2) Distribute workloads fairly, and make policies inclusive for all genders. 3) Plan for extra staff and create a culture where everyone thrives. Let's turn words into impactful actions! #diversity #inclusion #inclusiveworkplaces #women #india #maternityleaves #policy #DEI #womeninleadership CNBC-TV18 CNBC #CNBC
Congratulations Purva
That is so true. Well spoken, Purva.
Absolutely agree with the need for action! Here's a specific point on re-entry programs. Re-entry programs for returning parents must be well-structured. Simply offering roles without providing them with deserving opportunities can severely impact their confidence and hinder their growth. Also, organizations can work on Mentorship circles for returning mothers and create temporary, skill-building "returnship" programs for mothers who have been out of the workforce for a longer period. This allows them to refresh their skills and re-enter the professional world with confidence.
Sonica Aron (She/Her/Hers) great to see you taking the agenda forward actively and in all forums, big n small !!!

5moSince parenthood is gender agnostic, organisations need to balance paternity leave along with maternity(to reduce the feeling of resentment among other employees) , better plan resources and provide support to coming back mothers not only with flexibility but with child care facilities and mental well being. This shall go a long way to reduce the drop out of women in the workforce post maternity.
