Foundation for Science, Innovation and Development, IISc Bangalore, (#FSID) has launched #Pravriddhi, a pan-India Product Accelerator Program that unites premier Indian institutions and enterprises to develop innovative solutions through strategic partnerships and cutting-edge R&D. Conceived by #FSID, Pravriddhi provides a platform for #enterprises, #academia and #researchlaboratories, and #investors to collaborate to drive #innovation and #newproductdevelopment for a #selfreliantIndia.
The #ViksitBharat2047 vision projects India to reach a GDP of US$ 30 trillion by 2047, with 25 percent of this #growth expected to be driven by the manufacturing sector. #Pravriddhi aims to enable achieving this vision by promoting market-driven, design-led #manufacturing and enabling India to #innovate and compete on the #globalstage.
Prof Govindan Rangarajan, Director, IISc Bangalore, stated, “As India strives to meet ambitious economic and #industrialgoals, challenges like import dependency, #globalcompetitiveness, and workforce readiness persists. With #Pravriddhi, we aim to tackle these challenges by providing access to IISc’s world-class facilities, R&D expertise, and a robust network of strategic partners across India. By establishing #innovationhubs nationwide, we intend to extend our proven program model to a broader audience, empowering diverse industries and fostering sustained #economicgrowth and #innovation across the country.”
The keynote speaker at the launch event, Vipin Sondhi, former MD & CEO, Ashok Leyland, JCB India Ltd., and Tecumseh Products India Pvt Ltd, expressed his excitement about #Pravriddhi, describing it as a significant step towards building India as a #ProductNation, aligning closely with the vision of the #AtmanirbharBharat. He highlighted the importance of fostering a culture of innovation in India by introducing product development as a scholarly pursuit from an early stage. He further stressed that the collaboration between academia and industry is key to pushing the boundaries of #researchandinnovation—an approach that lies at the core of Pravriddhi.
Prof B Gurumoorthy, Director, FSID, said, “Pravriddhi is being launched based on our experience in running an accelerator in the area of high-speed rotating machinery with support from the Ministry Of Heavy Industries."
Commenting on the program, Yogesh Pandit, Director - Product Acceleration, Foundation for Science, Innovation and Development, IISc Bangalore, added, “We take pride in introducing #Pravriddhi, which translates to ‘amelioration’, ‘growth’, or ‘progress’. Guided by #ViksitBharat’s vision, Pravriddhi catalyzes innovative product development by bringing together enterprises, #investors, subject matter experts, and industry leaders to drive India’s #transformation into a #globalmanufacturing powerhouse."
