I recently enjoyed discussing #largevisionmodels (LVMs) with LandingAI CEO Andrew Ng and CNBC's Jon Fortt. #PureStorage made a strategic investment in LandingAI to help power the future of vision AI. I appreciated Andrew's insights on the importance of company leadership in identifying and deciding which projects to execute. Improving the state-of-the-art in large vision models and advancing artificial intelligence will be an exciting journey. Is the Investment in AI Outweighing the Benefits? The promise of generative #AI technology to transform  companies, industries, and societies continues to be touted,. Tech giants and beyond are set to spend over $1tn on AI capex in coming years, with so far little to show for it. So, will this large spend ever pay off? In a recent discussion, Daron Acemoglu, an Institute Professor at MIT, expressed his skepticism about the widespread impact of AI. He predicts that only about 25% of tasks exposed to AI will be cost-effective to automate in the next decade, suggesting that AI will affect less than 5% of all tasks.
