With their immense buying power and influence, why are women aged 55+ barely visible in the fashion industry? Our Sr. Director of Client Strategy & Service, Jeremy Ekes, connected with ROAR Forward’s Tony Case on why we see so few women 55+ in fashion campaigns. Jeremy explained that the underrepresentation stems from the misconception that younger adults have more buying power than they actually do. What many brands fail to realize is that including models from a broader age group brings authenticity and inspiration to campaigns. Remember Christie Brinkley is 70. Jennifer Aniston is 55 and Angela Bassett is 65. It’s past time to make fashion a more inspirational and inclusive place. 🌟 Sneaker culture is full of trailblazers, even more specifically, talented women. The way we amplify women in our space serves as a blueprint to how the sneaker community continues to elevate. 👟 For example, the coveted sneaker collaborations powered by Melody Ehsani, Aleali May, Nina Chanel, and Teyana Taylor are a few that speak to the talent. 👏🏽 On OUR Block we have amazing women that not only keep important parts of our business running, they care about the future of women in sneakers. We asked a few of our team members how we can elevate women. Check out their thoughts! Taylor Fernandez noted, "I think we’re already paving some ways to do that so it’s just continuing to give women the space to be heard and collaborate on different projects." Sherril Basta noted, "Let's spotlight the growing number of women killing it in sneakers, whether they're creating, marketing, or influencing. Gotta make sure they're seen and heard at every level." Ashleigh Kellis-Carr noted, "They are on the app, trading, and making an impact in the space so we need to make sure we aren't alienating them [and continue to be inclusive]. Women's History Month goes beyond March. Let's continue to actively listen to women, bring their voices to the front, and position them for success. Our ecosystem of sneakers depends on it. 🎤 ⬇ #sneakers #startups #womenshistorymonth #sneakercommunity #sneakerculture

It's Nike Now, Who's Next in Sexualizing Women? Nike recently unveiled new designs for women's soccer kits, some of which have drawn criticism for being overly revealing and sexualizing the female athletes. While Nike states they consulted with many professional players on the designs, which are just a few options out of 50 pieces, personally i feel this is more than just a design flaw. This controversy points to a larger issue at play. Too often, we still see practices across industries that reduce women to sexualized symbols and subject them to patriarchal standards of appearance and sexual appeal, rather than focusing on their abilities, skills and performance. When you consider, among others, - The Norwegian women's beach handball team being fined for wearing shorts instead of bikini bottoms - Gaming companies creating hypersexualized female characters to appeal to male audiences - Certain restaurants requiring female servers to wear revealing uniforms - Some construction companies providing ill-fitting "unisex" safety gear and equipment designed for male bodies. We continue to see how professional women are treated as eye candy rather than skilled professionals. Even in industries like construction, women face sexist assumptions and harassment. From catcalls to exclusion from "old boys' clubs," sexism remains a significant barrier for many women in the trades. Women in any profession deserve access to clothing and equipment that allows them to feel comfortable, confident, and perform at their best. They should not be constrained by objectifying standards that prioritize sex appeal over ability. Let's stop defining women by their sexuality and start recognizing them as capable leaders and contributors, whether on the soccer field, the construction site, or in the boardroom. Representation and respect for women should be the norm, not the exception. It's on all of us to challenge sexist practices and create a more equitable world for women in every industry. Nike's design controversy is just one example of a much larger problem that demands our attention and action. #WomenInSports #GenderEquity #SexismInConstruction #EqualityForAll #EPIC

Hi Friends, I’m working on an exciting project that explores the ageism women experience at all stages of life, specifically in relation to fashion. I aim to understand how societal expectations and stereotypes influence fashion choices and perceptions for women of all ages. This survey is for anyone who feels the questions are relatable to them. Please take a few minutes to complete this short, anonymous survey. Your responses will shape my research and help challenge the stigmas around age and fashion. Every answer counts! Share this survey with as many friends, family, and colleagues as possible. The more diverse the responses, the better I can understand how these issues affect women across different age groups. Thanks so much for your time and support! https://lnkd.in/gCf8YV5N
