We all spend so much time and energy digging through the financial results that we often miss the obvious - the "heart and soul" within the company. This short article speaks volumes about the values within Schooley Mitchell.

Sometimes we can lose sight of the fact that institutions are not just a pool of assets but organizations that have an end beneficiary, whether that is a retiree, a student or a grantee. Elmer Huh of the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust does a great job of reminding us of that in this five questions feature. Check out his story and other great insights below!

Did You Know about Seattle Public Schools (SPS) Funding Model? ❗ SPS doesn’t fully fund each individual school, it has a Tier method of funding. ❗ The weighted funding model is based on Tier assignment which ensures low-income communities receive more funding, relies on PTAs to fill in known gaps in school budgets. ❗ A weighted funding model means that as your number goes up the community comes around the school to provide critical funding to bridge that gap for that school. PTA organizations have stepped in to fill this gap. Funds are raised on a YEARLY basis. If the funding is not met that year then the school will lose it the following year. There is not a cushion to carry us year to year. We had the the opportunity to create a quality video while helping raise crucial funds for a local public school. Check out the video here (and don't forget to support your local PTA!): https://lnkd.in/gMgSSTcz If you are part of a group trying to do something good, reach out to our team.

I was thrilled to share a pretty cool client success story in our recent episode of Blue Collar Wealth presented by Stone House®! 🌟 In this episode, I had the pleasure of discussing a client success story alongside Bob Brown, CFP®, and John Burke. We delved into the strategic approach we took in helping a client achieve a remarkable 11% effective tax rate for a client while tapping into $650,000 of potential income. Not only that, but we also facilitated his goals of setting up his grandchildren for future success via 529 contribution and contributing to charity through donor-advised funds. 💡 Financial planning isn't just about investments; it's about understanding our clients' aspirations and leveraging them to craft personalized strategies for a fulfilling retirement. What makes this job so enjoyable is finding ways to maximize our clients wealth and goals while simultaneously reducing their tax burdens.
