Once again, an empty chair at the dinner table because of healthcare negligence. I am seeing a concerning trend within the emergency medical services industry: private ambulance companies overextending themselves by accepting contracts they cannot adequately fulfill. This not only compromises patient care but burdens them with exorbitant fees, sometimes upwards of $6,000 per emergency call. As a physician, I've seen firsthand the consequences of such negligence. It's stories like these, including the heart-wrenching report of a woman in Knox County who tragically passed away waiting for an ambulance, that reinforce the urgent need for innovation and accountability in healthcare. At Tele911 we're driven to address these critical gaps by empowering EMS with technology that allows them to provide timely at-home treatments. Our goal is not just to respond but to anticipate and prevent crises before they escalate. By integrating telemedicine with a board certified emergency room physician within 35 seconds of activation, we ensure that the next call to 911 will be met with the expertise and efficiency every patient deserves. It's time to support our local EMS with the tools they need to succeed and to ensure that every call for help receives a response that can truly make a difference. Let's focus on being on the right side of history with the power we have been given. Happy EMS week to all! https://lnkd.in/eGjvEbdt

We’re a fan of this new acronym from Great Western Air Ambulance Charity to manage stabbings. STAB-5: Scene / safety Ten Second Triage / full stab check Assertive management Bleeding control (major) 5 minutes max on scene Learn more on the link below! A quick way to do a stab check is the 6 point method used by HART during TST: - head - chest - arm pits (think defensive stance/wounds) - back of head - back - limbs Also remember to keep your bleeding patients WARM to avoid the ‘diamond of death’ [acidosis, coagulopathy, hypocalcemia, and HYPOTHERMIA]. #stopthebleed #cpd
In response to the recent spike in stabbings locally, our crew have produced an easy-to-recall acronym and associated aide-memoire to help ambulance paramedics. The 'STAB-5' acronym aims to help paramedics manage the situation at the scene of a stabbing and get the patient on their way to hospital within five minutes of arriving. Paramedics and other clinicians can view the aide-memoire here: https://lnkd.in/eyta5ybK

Words cannot describe how exciting it is to see this come to life! The new ambulance patient distribution matrix will support paramedics in making better informed decisions on where to take their patients to the right location for the right care. Taking into account real-time data on ED hospital capacity, travel time, and the patient's needs; this will look to ease the pressure on emergency departments as well as ensure paramedics can get back into the community more efficiently and limit ambulance ramping. This is going to impact all of us across the state in how we are transported as a patient to receive the right care. To read more: https://lnkd.in/gjzhyQZg

Creating an efficient ambulance setup is essential for supporting paramedics, safeguarding patient care, and meeting the evolving demands of emergency medical services. A well-designed layout focused on ergonomic principles allows paramedics to perform at their best without unnecessary physical strain or operational delays, keeping critical tools like gloves and IV trays within easy reach. By minimizing bending and stretching, this setup enables paramedics to concentrate fully on providing life-saving care, uninterrupted by fatigue or workflow obstacles. Patients in need of an emergency ambulance ride could be greeted with a shocking surprise - even though 85% of ambulances are out-of-network, they would not have the same protection from 'surprise billing' as other medical care. But fear not! Congress has created an advisory committee to investigate further and create solutions for this issue down the line. https://lnkd.in/eXRqSbUf #tennesseehealthadvocates #medicalbills #patientadvocate #healthinsurance #reviewyourbills #understandyourbills #reviewyourmedicalbills #peaceofmind #billingerrors #savetime #savemoney #fairprice #strategy #information #medicalbillingprofessional
