Man, this job hunt thing is tough! It can be hard to remain optimistic, stay focused and do the work required to network, find opportunities and connect with people. Ironically, it’s a full-time job! Although the hunt for a full-time event’s role has been difficult, I’ve been enjoying the last few months of contract work. From helping to produce a 5K race with Diplo to overseeing a transportation program for 300+ guests on an incentive trip in Tahoe, it’s been rewarding and fun. I really like the independence and autonomy, and it suits me. As a result, I’m shifting my focus from looking for permanent jobs (though I’m still open to the right one) to building a pipeline of partners and clients who have the need for agile, expert event support on an as-needed basis. Since university, I’ve always had a passion for event coordination. I’ve always believed that every second counts and that's why, alongside my full-time job, I work part-time as an event coordinator and floor manager for corporate and wedding events over the weekend. Here’s how it’s helping me grow: 1. Improved Communication: Managing events sharpens my ability to communicate clearly with clients, vendors, and teams. 2. Better Time Management: Juggling multiple tasks at once has helped me prioritize and use my time more effectively. 3. Networking Opportunities: Working in events lets me build valuable connections with professionals across different industries. 4.
