Wow! We certainly didn’t expect that! Following our post about the Brain Books, we received a wonderful message from a mum whose child was on the brink of school exclusion. After going through the books and learning about how trauma affects the brain and some of the techniques that can be used to help calm the brain and regulate emotions, the young person used that information in a very positive way and is managing to change the situation. The thrilled mum then posted about the books on a forum for other parents and we were so overwhelmed with book orders that we had to get more printed!! 🙌📖 There are many things we can take from this wonderful story, not just about the power of education to change lives, but about the power of a good-news story and spreading the word. All of our mentors are equipped with the knowledge in these books which they can pass on to the young people they support. Please ‘like’ and ‘share’ all of our social media posts and click ‘follow’ on our page so that we can increase our reach and get the message out that mentoring works and we need more volunteer mentors to support young people across Somerset to change their lives. The melody of hope starts with a single note – the scratch of a pencil on a page. Every child carries a spark within them, a tiny ember yearning to become a wildfire of potential but some are held back by the chains of circumstance and left with a flicker of hope. This is where we, Selfless Sewa steps in with the impressive strength of our dedicated volunteers to rekindle the flame of hope. Our education drive isn’t just about textbooks and tests; it’s about igniting a fire within, a fire that illuminate the path towards a brighter future. Our heart overflow with compassion’s tears, when we see little hesitant hand reaching out to grasp a book, the furrowed brow etched with concentration as a new world unfolds on its pages. It's the shy flicker of hope in a child's eyes, a silent plea, "Can I learn too?" With our numerous visits and interaction with these children, we have learnt a powerful truth: Life may fling its harshest storms at these children, yet they stand unwavering. Their enthusiastic participation isn’t just a mere activity; it's a testament to the indomitable spirit that burns bright within them. This left us speechless and in awe of admiration. These children are warriors, waiting for a kindred spirit to join their fight. We invite you to answer their call. We invite you to become a part of their journey, and let’s together illuminates their path towards a brighter future.💙🫶🏻 • • #selflesssewa #LearnWithSelflessSewa #HopeForAll #EducationForAll #HopeInAction #LearningWithoutLimits #HopeFoundationWorks #socialgood #volunteer #HopeForChange #socialwork #EmpowerWithHope #sustainability #impact #charity #YourCity #volunteering #helpothers #supportneeded #kindness #empowerment #theoryofchange #SupportSelflesssewa #makingdifference #nonprofit #humanity

Being a teacher is not just a profession—it's a profound responsibility. And being a leader in the education sector is even more demanding. Each day presents unique challenges, from diverse student needs and varied capabilities to differing end goals. In the nonprofit education sector, the hurdles are even greater. Operating with minimal human resources, limited funds, and scant infrastructure, we face a daily battle. Yet, I chose this path because education is not just important—it's essential. Every child, regardless of their background, deserves access to quality education, the best learning materials, and dedicated teachers. At UPAY (UnderPrivileged Advancement by Youth), I often witnesses students waiting with hope in their eyes and curiosity in their hearts, yet finding it challenging to secure the support they need from those who have the privilege of contributing. This Teachers' Day, I urge everyone to come together and support the educational landscape we strive to build for the children in need. Even dedicating a couple of hours a week can make a significant difference. Join us and see firsthand how impactful your involvement can be. Your contribution is not just a donation of time—it's an investment in a child's future. Let's make a change together! #TeachersDay #EducationMatters #VolunteerForEducation #SupportOurChildren #MakeADifference #nonprofitEducation

Do you remember having something for the very first time? Our Grade 4 learner, Itumeleng, had slush for the first time in her life while at a Tomorrow Trust learner engagement🥤. All learners had an opportunity to choose their drinks at a cinema outing and they all quickly picked the obvious and most refreshing – a slush. Itumeleng ran to a Tomorrow Trust team member with the biggest smile on her face. “Teacher, this drink is full of ice and it’s nice,” shouted Itumeleng. She had no idea it was even called “Slush”. Itumeleng was so overjoyed as she requested, “I have never had this in my life. Please take a picture of me and send it to my mom.” The moment brought such a great realised that we often take for granted. A simple slush was something new and exciting for our grade 4 learner who doesn’t have such experiences in her community. There are so many children out there who are longing for these simple joys. You can contribute to these first-time, simple yet special memories of our learners by donating to The Tomorrow Trust so that we can make such experiences a reality for more kids. With your support, we can ensure that learners get to enjoy the little things that make life so sweet, like a slush at the movies. A new term can be a daunting prospect for many children and young people. Moving class, a different teacher and new faces. A child from a stable home environment will have the resilience and emotional capacity to deal with the change, it may be challenging but with the right support at home, it will be manageable. Now imagine a child who doesn’t have that support? A child that goes home and feels that they don’t have anyone to talk to. The feelings can become overwhelming and suddenly school is not a safe space. That's when our volunteer mentors step in. They can be that person to talk to, the one that listens with empathy. They can really make a difference; could you be that person? #promiseworks #charity #Somerset #helpourpromisework #helpothers #mentoringmatters #mentoring #volunteersneeded #youngpeople #volunteeropportunity #volunteer #schools

Imposter syndrome, acronym overload, kindness, and lessons learned 💡 This is me about to head in to my 3rd full board at Wade Deacon Trust 📚 Although I’ve been a charity #trustee for over 7 years, this is my first role in education 🎗️ In-spite of preparing diligently for my first board meeting back in January, I spent it in a state of complete confusion, trying desperately to follow the discussion and work out what the alphabet soup of acronyms stood for! 🤯 I briefly wondered whether I would really add value to the good work that Trust does, and whether another person would be better suited. 😨 Then I reminded myself I’m here specifically because I have different skills and experience 👨💻📈 What is helping even more however is the patience and kindness of the executive team and other board members. Not only do they tolerate my stupid questions, but go out of their way to take time to explain things to me. I guess it’s in their DNA as educators, and it’s something I’m incredibly grateful for 🙏 It strikes me that those of us in #financialplanning and #wealthmanagememt can learn a lot in this regard, assuming the role of patient educators with our clients, giving them the confidence to ask ‘stupid questions’, and helping them navigate the world of acronyms and complexity our world entails. Maybe then, more people will seek advice, putting them on the path to financial peace of mind ☺️ #charity #learning

I am so looking forward to Yes Futures's Coaching 3 session with my students from the Weald Community School. For a start: 💥 Finding out how they are and what it was that they achieved during the Into the Wild trip. This time for reflection helps them grow their self awareness... ➡️ Did they push themselves out of their comfort zone? ➡️ What talent did they improve the most during the activities? ➡️ Was it their communication skills? ➡️ Or did they demonstrate resilience? Whatever it is, we will celebrate it and that will grow their confidence! 🎉 Then: ✔ Reviewing the goals they set in the previous session. Then: ✔ Honing onto their future plans by brainstorming what they need to do to get there, who they need help from, what talent will be the most useful etc... And then: 💪 Setting a goal for our next session! I just can't wait to! #coaching #students #charity #volunteering #resilience #selfawareness #communicationskills #confidence #settinggoals #celebrate

Every child can reach their full potential and achieve their #dreams with the right support. Dreamers are over 300% more likely to earn a bachelor’s degree than their peers. At the "I Have A Dream" Foundation, we provide long-term individualized #social, #emotional, and academic #support to young people from historically marginalized communities from kindergarten all the way through post-secondary education, along with guaranteed tuition support. We believe that when given equal access to the resources they need to succeed, all children can ignite their innate potential and achieve their dreams. #NonProfit #nonprofitorganization

Mentorship is more than just guidance; it's a lifelong impact that can shape the future of young adults. "Adults who were mentored as youth report long-lasting impact… 74% of those who had a meaningful mentor say that person contributed significantly to their success later in life." At Lead4Life, we understand the transformative effect a mentor can have. That’s why we're committed to fostering connections that not only support immediate goals but also contribute to long-term achievements.
