On the last day of #LinuxPlumbers, Kumar Kartikeya Dwivedi (EPFL) took a look at how we could redesign the network stack in a backward compatible way to improve its efficiency without losing isolation. Basically the holy grail of network stack research (dataplane OSes, kernel bypasses, kernel offloads). He thinks #eBPF could help implement a new Fibers abstraction to solve this problem. Why should you conside #Cilium? (Not ad) 1. It takes advantage of #eBPF to reduce data package operation in user space. eBFP makes it possible to program in kernel and compile in runtime, and makes Cilium distinct from other CNI plugins in performance. 2. By #Wireguard, data package is transparently encrypted and decrypted in kernel. 3. It provides #mTLS - mutual TLS authentication. 4. Besides Kubernetes #networkPolicy(L3~L4), it provides L2~L7 levels Cilium network policy. 5. It provides #kubeProxy replacement to overcome limit of #iptables when cluster is growing large. 6. #ClusterMesh joins multiple clusters of different vendors and provides global load balancer among them. 7. It provides powerful #observability and tracibility of traffic flows in intitutive form in UI or details in command line. ...

Check out this AWESOME #presentation from #wlpc in Phoenix about #OpenWiFi by Firas Shaari. He's sharing info about the DHCP Handshake 🤝 and other cool stuff too. It's a #wlpc Ten Talk but he gives you way more than ten minutes of #wifi #wisdom.
