I recently had the privilege of sharing sometime Joe Foster his wife and heard intimately about the remarkable journey of from shoemaker to mogul which holds powerful insights for navigating disruption and driving success. Here are key takeaways that I believe we could use right now in the Agedcare sector as we sit at the precipice of transformation: 1️⃣ Double Down on Strength: Identify your organization's unique strengths and leverage them to excel in a crowded market. 2️⃣ Seek Complementary Partnerships: Collaborate with strategic partners who complement your strengths to enhance service delivery and impact. 3️⃣ Embrace Consistency: Stay dedicated to your mission and vision, even in the face of rejection, to build credibility and trust. 4️⃣ Seize the Right Moment: Be vigilant, prepared, and agile to seize opportunities amidst disruption, ensuring timely progress. 5️⃣ Master the Art of Pivoting: Adapt swiftly to changing needs and demands, finding innovative ways to meet the evolving expectations of the aging population. 💡 Ready to revolutionize the Aged Care sector? We can support you and the team to implement or lean on Joe Foster's lessons to transform the future of care for Australia's aging population. Let's collaborate, innovate, and create a brighter future together! Tatty's Engagement Top 5 And taking 🏅 is... Before You Do, Ask Here’s a secret - asking before you do is about shifting the locus of control. In engagement we have to be prepared to share power and ownership of the process. When we do, an outcome of that engagement is empowerment within the communities we are working with; it means we are building engagement for independence not obedience. I once saw a post on LinkedIn "Don’t Ask, Do!” from an organisation that works in patient engagement 😲 Imagine expressing that as your engagement strategy at a community meeting or at a conference of patients as experts by experience? No, me neither. To show we respect somebody’s time, story, needs, fears and hopes - we must ask before we do, we must listen to what comes back, and then we must discuss and act on what we’ve learned. Great engagement can open up so many new possibilities. When I see communities I’ve worked with pick up the ball and see them running with it - that to me is beauty beauty beauty. In our industry, the hashtag #didyouevenaskpatients sums it up perfectly. That’s my engagement Top 5. Are they in the right order? What would you add? #engagement #communityengagement #patientengagement #askbeforeyoudo #customerservices

What Care Teaches You About People "In marketing, it’s all about knowing your audience. In care, it goes deeper—understanding not just their needs but their hopes, fears, and stories. Over the past 3 years, I’ve learned that empathy and connection are the core of everything we do, whether we’re managing a business or providing care. The care sector has shown me that no matter the role, the human connection is what drives real impact. We’re not just professionals; we’re caregivers. #PeopleFirst #EmpathyInCare #HumanConnection #CareLeadership" Care Leaders Network Care Home Professional The Care Home Environment Magazine
