18 months ago, Beringer made a substantial investment in VeraData. Since then, VeraData has rebranded as “The Donor Science Company,” who turns Insights into Impact. Exclusively serving the nonprofit sector, VeraData enhances donor acquisition and retention, enabling nonprofits to generate more revenue and strengthen their capacity of mission delivery. With assistance from the Beringer team and their Executives-in-Residence (EIR), VeraData has successfully executed a rebrand, launched a new website, developed a marketing strategy, formed content partnerships, and expanded their sales force. Michael Peterman, CEO of VeraData says, “I was always told it’s better to do the wrong deal with the right people than the right deal with the wrong people. When we started seeking a private equity partner, that was front of mind for me. We wanted a partner in the business, someone who could help work around our weaknesses and make us better in those areas. Someone who had strengths that we did not. Someone who would roll up their sleeves, get their hands dirty, and help us solve growth problems. Anybody can be a financial partner if they have the money, it takes a different type of firm to come in and work side-by-side with the team to help facilitate change. Beringer was that firm. They are business partners, not just investors. That is why we chose them." Today, VeraData is well-positioned for exponential growth in the market. At Beringer, we don’t just invest; we leverage the full expertise of our partners and EIRs with a hands-on approach. We’re business operators and owners ourselves. That’s the Beringer difference. LATER POST! Jay Stearley, M.B.A., M.A., S.P.I., and I put our learning caps on and attended the State CIO Summit last week. It was great to see a gathering of leaders to discuss the future of AI in Nevada. Here are my three big takeaways. 👇👇👇 #1 - The possibilities for better, faster, reliable (gov) services are endless! 🚀🚀 It was rad to see big ideas on how AI might revolutionize public services, like creating a county "front door" where AI can help citizens self-service their needs instead of trying to find the "right department." Imagine being directed exactly where you need to instead of trying to navigate a county website. #2 - The future of AI is staff augmentation, not replacement. 🙋♂️+🤖 Humans with AI will replace humans without AI. Government, non-profit, and public sectors are all wrestling with this. #3 - It's here, it's happening, and embracing it requires action now. 💪💪 Action is happening at the top of organizations, but it's also happening organically with teams. PS - Did you know the State of Vermont was one of the first states to create an AI director and statewide governance policy? A+ for being proactive. Go check it out -> https://lnkd.in/gQyuwJ8d HUGE SHOUT OUT to the State of Nevada Office of The Chief Information Officer, Timothy Galluzi, Caleb Cage, Jill Tolles, and Michael Hanna-Butros Meyering for pulling this event together. Was also great to see the one and only Tim Robb as an unexpected [well, at least for me] panel presenter.

Funders, there is an opportunity to support nonprofits in new ways: - Foster collaboration among nonprofits to tackle shared systemic challenges. - Equip them with funds to set-up the internal data architecture needed to effectively leverage AI. - Allow space for AI experimentation so they can learn what works. Today at Philanthropy New York's quarterly convening of #TheNewYorkCityWorkforceFundersCollaborative, we delved into how these actions can empower nonprofits. We must shift from simply delivering services to including transforming systems—using AI not just for program delivery but for innovation. By reframing our approach, we open doors for communities to access new opportunities. I'm grateful to have shared this discussion with visionary leaders like Marjorie Parker of JobsFirstNYC, Jake Porway of Decoded Futures (Tech:NYC), and Crispin V. Velez of Google. Special thanks to Judith M. Smith and Alessandra DiGiusto for advancing this critical conversation. Together, we can harness AI to dismantle barriers and drive systemic change, creating pathways for all communities to thrive. #AIforGood #artificialintelligence #innovation

Solid advice from Jim Fruchterman from TechMatters on the "wait calculation" when adopting an emerging disruption technology. What use cases and tools to wait on and where to move forward (stepping very carefully and slowly) "The current hype cycle around Artificial Intelligence is getting tremendous attention in nonprofits and society at large. There is a great deal of pressure on leaders to “do AI,” with the strong implication that those who don’t are missing the “Biggest Thing Ever.” What’s the non-technical nonprofit leader to do?" https://lnkd.in/gCEhW5YZ
