Gukesh is 18th World Chess Champion at 18!! Youngest ever... the great Gary Kasparov was Champion at 22. I cudn't hold back tears seeing Gukesh customarily put back the pieces after his win. His sense of gratitude - thanking The Divine after his win - was such a touching moment for me. Faith + Incredible ability in a 18-yr old World Champion is soo inspiring to watch. Such a proud moment for all of us Indians... we have another youngster with the right values as an inspiration for all of us. IMO, this game will be remembered for "Time management itself as a tactical maneuver" by Gukesh. When the final move was played, 1 hr 7 mins left for Gukesh vs <10 mins for Ding. Not wanting to go into the tiebreaker, Gukesh knew that his best chances of winning with black would come if Ding made mistakes or blunders under time pressure. IMO, his team planned for this… managing his time very carefully during the game… Gukesh’s speedy moves also prevented Ding from doing many calculations while Gukesh’s clock was running, forcing Ding to use his own time more and more to think. Slowly and slowly Ding’s time pressure mounted leading to the unforced errors under time pressure. Brilliant! Simply brilliant!!! The last few minutes of the last game, which can be watched here, are incredibly precious to relive. What a moment of pride for every Indian!!! https://lnkd.in/dd2qwxeZ

Absolutely Professor. Gukesh not only wins against the world champion but also shows remarkable discipline by resetting the pieces after his victory. You're spot on about his excellent time management. Another standout quality of Gukesh is his ability to keep his opponents guessing by pushing games that might otherwise seem headed for a draw.

It was awesome, tears of joy fell from his eyes, he re-arranged the pieces, bowed to them, bowed to the sky and his seat and set that back too. Not forget that Prag and Gukesh touch Vishy's feet when they greet him on ocassions. Such level of grace and self awareness at such young age with such brilliance and calibre is purely divine ! Even my eyes welled up seeing such purity. More prayers, grace, best wishes and wins to him ! :)

GUKESH showed lot of maturity in this championship. Do not know how it differs in Intellectual Quality of Matches played earlier with Kasparov and Karpov times . Ofcourse the challengers were less those days . Also mental strength at the young age will be different 18 yr old Vs 32 yr there will be lot of difference especially in taking some bold or calculative steps. However its good to see the young boy taking INDIA to World platform.

See his interview in tv when he was eleven years old. With all innocence and determination, he says my ambition is to become youngest world chess champion. The interviewer chuckles almost dismissing it and says this boy wants to become youngest world chess champion. He indeed did it. Congrats Gukesh for yourhard work and determination

Your heartfelt admiration for Gukesh beautifully captures the emotions many of us are feeling. His poise, humility, and brilliance at just 18 are truly remarkable. Watching him balance faith and tactical genius in such high-pressure moments is indeed inspiring. Your observation about “time management as a tactical maneuver” is a fascinating insight into his game strategy. It highlights not just his skill on the board but also his psychological acumen in pushing his opponent to the brink. It’s a masterclass in preparation, focus, and execution. This victory is not just a proud moment for Indians but also a testament to what dedication and values can achieve. Gukesh has set a shining example for the younger generation, reminding us all that success is as much about character as it is about talent. A true legend in the making!
