Latin America is home to a wealth of skilled software engineers who are quickly making their mark on the global stage. From innovative problem-solvers to multilingual coding wizards, Latin American developers are bringing a unique blend of talents to the table. Here are 5 well-kept secrets about this rising tech force: 🌍 Multicultural Mastery: With a melting pot of cultures and languages, many Latin American software engineers grow and thrive in diverse, complex working environments. 🧠 Creative Problem-Solving Mindset: Hailing from diverse backgrounds and facing unique challenges, Latin American developers have honed a knack for innovative problem-solving with limited resources. I'm shocked at how many US companies are still sleeping on Latam tech talent. Here’s why I'm bullish on Argentine developers: - World-class universities producing top-tier software engineers - Intensive bootcamps creating job-ready devs in just 6 months - Near-identical time zone to the US (only 1 hour difference) - Strong English skills for seamless communication - Up to 10x more affordable than US-based talent At Set & Forget, we've seen firsthand how Argentine devs: - Automate routine tasks to boost efficiency - Develop tailored WebApps - Create insightful dashboards - Manage complex datasets It’s a win-win situation. Clients gain access to exceptional talent at a fraction of the cost, while developers engage in exciting projects with U.S. companies. While you may be struggling to hire a single Silicon Valley developer, you could build an entire team of Argentine experts for the same investment. P.S. I’m not just praising my country - i’m highlighting a significant opportunity.

Remote jobs definitely serve a significant purpose. While the popularity of remote work has fluctuated in recent years, especially during and after the pandemic, it's clear that it offers major benefits for both employers and employees. In the current job market, there is a growing conversation about companies asking employees to return to the office. A quick search on LinkedIn for tech sector jobs indicated that around 10-15% of positions remain remote-only, with some employers open to remote work within the same location or territory, and a smaller percentage of them offering completely location-agnostic roles. This number is notably higher for technologies like Web3, blockchain, and AI. There are three key areas where remote work makes sense and will likely continue to do so: 1.) Global Talent Access: Employers can recruit top talent from anywhere in the world, without being constrained by geographic location. Mentioned by Milton Slonim in his post below. 2.) Attracting Top Talent: Offering remote work flexibility can be a major draw for highly skilled professionals, particularly those in niche or cutting-edge technologies such as #blockchain, #web3, #AI, and others 3.) Rapid Scaling Startups: Early-stage companies (seed or pre-series) aiming for quick growth can expand their talent pool by embracing remote work and avoiding geographical limitations. While the pendulum may swing back and forth, remote work will likely remain a significant part of the job market. For job seekers, although I have yet to conduct a comprehensive survey, the initial feedback I've gathered indicates that most job seekers in their 20s and 30s prefer remote or at least hybrid work arrangements over traditional office settings. Do you think remote work is here to stay, or will it fade away over time? #remote , #workfromanywhere #remotework

As a LatAM founder, I'm shocked how many US companies are still sleeping on our tech talent. 99% of US startups are missing out on a game-changing talent pool. It’s not about: - Chasing overpriced Silicon Valley engineers - Paying $200,000 salaries for average coders - Settling for mediocre skills to cut costs You shouldn't be aiming to hire just "any developer." Instead, look 5,000 miles south to Argentina. Let me tell you why I'm bullish on Argentine developers: - World-class universities producing top-tier software engineers - Intensive bootcamps creating job-ready devs in just 6 months - Near-identical time zone to the US (only 1 hour difference) - Strong English skills for seamless communication - Up to 10x more affordable than US-based talent At Set & Forget, we've seen firsthand how Argentine devs: - Automate routine tasks to boost efficiency - Develop tailored WebApps using Apps Script - Create insightful dashboards in Looker Studio - Manage complex datasets with BigQuery This isn't about praising my country It's about showing you a massive opportunity. While you struggle to hire one Silicon Valley dev, you could build an entire team of Argentine experts for the same cost. Think about it. P.S. Have you considered hiring abroad? What’s stopping you?

Imagine having access to talented engineers who integrate perfectly into your existing teams. All while enjoying significant cost savings. This is why Latin America is rapidly emerging as a hidden gem for companies seeking better engineering talent: Same Time Zones Another major benefit of outsourcing to Latin American developers is that they are in the same time zone as the USA. This means that there is a small gap in communication, and it is easier to plan and organize projects and ensure timely delivery. Diverse Skill Sets and Innovation Latin American developers are versatile in many programming languages, with 80% of them being conversant with more than one language: JavaScript (65%), Python (55%), and Java (50%) are the most common, as they can be used for both front-end and back-end development. Cultural Compatibility Latin American engineers seamlessly integrate into North American teams because they share many cultural similarities like professional work ethics, values, and communication styles. Both tend to value networking and personal relationships, teamwork and collaboration, and respect for hierarchy. Cost-Effective Solutions By hiring remote developers from Latin America, businesses can expect to reduce hiring costs by 30% to 50%. This cost-effectiveness is particularly appealing to startups and small tech companies. High English Proficiency Many professionals in Latin America are fluent in English, with countries like Argentina, Chile, and Costa Rica leading the English Proficiency Index (EPI). At BetterEngineer, 100% of our developers have English proficiency to facilitate collaboration with global teams and clients. Vast Talent Pool: Latin America produces over 450,000 tech graduates annually, with a strong emphasis on software development, data science, and engineering. According to Statista (Nov 2023), there are over 500,000 software developers in Brazil alone, followed by Mexico with 220,000, Argentina with 115,000, and Colombia with 62,000. Don't Reinvent the Wheel Whenever I face a new challenge, I ask myself: Has nobody in the world ever encountered this problem before? 98% of the time, the answer is a very obvious "yes." In software development, we have a guiding principle: Don't reinvent the wheel. Search for a solution to your problem. Understand it. It's crucial to comprehend why it works and why it fits your needs. Don't just copy and paste, leaving yourself puzzled a month later about what that code does. Understand it. And remember, don't reinvent the wheel. I write because I aim to learn and engage with amazing people like you.
