🎓✨ Yesterday, we welcomed students from Berliner Hochschule für Technik (BHT) - Berlin University of Applied Sciences - to #ProBioGen as part of their 4th/5th bachelor's semester module, ‘Industrial Cell Culture Technology’. This module focuses on CHO cell cultivation and the production of recombinant therapeutic proteins—fields we specialize in every day. Our upstream process development team hosted a presentation session, followed by an exclusive look into our #labs, offering students a glimpse into the dynamic world of #biotech. *** Paper alert *** Aviv Regev and her team from Genentech published a paper today in Nature. https://lnkd.in/dMNYF5k5 The paper describes the tool SCimilarity, a metric learning framework to learn a unified and interpretable representation that enables rapid queries of tens of millions of cell profiles from diverse studies for cells that are transcriptionally similar to an input cell profile or state. Myllia Biotechnology CSO Tilmann Burckstummer anticipates that this model will become useful to compare transcriptional profiles of different cell types and cell states: "At Myllia, we perform single-cell CRISPR screens at scale. We are often confronted with the problem that Dr. Regev has tackled here.
