Starting in 2025, Amazon will increase the number of ads in its Prime Video ad tier, testing how much more advertising subscribers are willing to tolerate. Kelly Day, VP of Prime Video International, confirmed that Prime Video's ad load will ramp up, though details remain limited. Currently, viewers see two to three-and-a-half minutes of ads per hour, but more commercials may be introduced, potentially even during content. Amazon also plans to introduce shoppable ads, offering a new way for advertisers to engage TV and movie audiences. Despite adding ads, Prime Video hasn't seen a significant subscriber drop. Kelly Day reported that customer churn due to ads was far lower than expected, with only a small percentage of subscribers opting for the ad-free option. Prime Video currently has 200 million monthly viewers, and ad-supported tiers are becoming more common as streaming services look to increase profits.
