Batteries Under the Tree Are Not What They Used to Be: https://ow.ly/kQ0x50UbgKZ The small toy/tool consumer battery landscape has changed substantially over the past 45 years. Gone are the days of “If it fits, it will work.” The size and shape of a battery today are not an indication of consistent chemistry and corresponding voltages. They vary, and when multiple batteries are required to reach the voltages needed to power that device, consistent battery chemistry becomes particularly relevant. #FireEngineeringFriday

In safety 🦺🤔 I’m sure you have covered this important topic 🤔It's The Current That Kills The real measure of shock's intensity lies in the amount of current (amperes) forced though the body, and not the voltage. Any electrical device used on a house wiring circuit can, under certain conditions, transmit a fatal current. It's the amperage that kills you, not the voltage. While there is truth to the statement, it is sort of like saying, “It's the size of the vehicle, not the speed that kills you when it hits you.” Whatever the voltage, the true cause of death is the current that is pushed through the body. However, we should not completely discard the voltage, because without voltage or potential difference there would be no current at all. Therefore, hanging on a wire would not electrocute you unless you touch the ground. It is sometimes suggested that human lethality is most common with alternating current at 100–250 volts; however, death has occurred below this range, with supplies as low as 42 volts.

🌟 **Invest in Quality: Your Safety Depends on It** 🌟 In today's boat market, it's tempting to opt for the lowest-priced option available, especially when you are up against a budget. However, when it comes to safety, quality should always be the priority. Recently, I came across a situation where someone I knew chose a cheaper LED light over my brand. Unfortunately, it malfunctioned and posed serious safety risks and damaged a very expensive boat. Thankfully, no one was hurt, but it was a stark reminder of why quality matters. Here are a few reasons why investing in quality is crucial: 1️⃣ **Reliability:** Quality products are built to last and perform consistently. Whether it's a tool, appliance, or electronic device, reliability ensures you won't encounter unexpected failures or hazards. 2️⃣ **Safety Standards:** Reputable brands adhere to stringent safety standards and regulations. This ensures that the products you use are designed with your safety in mind, reducing the risk of accidents or malfunctions. 3️⃣ **Long-term Savings:** While upfront costs may be higher for quality products, they often save you money in the long run. Cheaper alternatives may need frequent repairs or replacements, costing you more over time. 4️⃣ **Peace of Mind:** Knowing you've invested in a quality product provides peace of mind. Whether it's for personal use or in a professional setting, you can trust that it will perform as expected without compromising safety. Let's prioritize safety and quality in our purchasing decisions. Your life and the lives of those around you may depend on it. Choose wisely, invest in quality, and stay safe! #QualityMatters #SafetyFirst #InvestInQuality #ConsumerAwareness #RiskManagement

Don't Be Shocked! May is National Electrical Safety Month 2024. Electrical Safety Foundation (ESFI) is excited to announce that its National Electrical Safety Month 2024 campaign will focus on lithium-ion battery safety. The materials for this year’s campaign educate the public on how to purchase, use, and recycle lithium-ion batteries safely. How to Identify a Battery Problem *Sweet burning electrical odor emitted from the battery *Change in the battery color *Change in the battery or device shape *Noises or leaking coming from the battery Remind your Community *Purchase batteries or battery-powered devices from reputable retailers *Never leave charging devices unattended and never charge them while sleeping *Store batteries in a cool dry place *Unplug devices when fully charged *Never charge devices in areas that may block an exit in case of a fire SAFETY FIRST, SAFETY ALWAYS. #electricalsafety #electricalhazards
