It was an honor to be part of Gitex ASIA, representing Pakistan through my startup, QuantaByte and software company R Technologies. While we celebrate #Pakistan being named #TechDestinationOfTheYear, It’s also worth noting that many other promising Pakistani startups including mine have struggled due to Pakistan's weak IT infrastructure. Internet access is unreliable, and we lack key technologies like 5G, which is already available in countries like Dubai and India. Despite these challenges, we made our way to GITEX on our own, without significant support from the local industry or government. Sadly, many other promising startups couldn’t participate because of this lack of support. This recognition should be more than a symbolic win. If we want to see true innovation, The government and industry must stop fantasizing about success and need to move beyond flashy promotions and address the real issues and start taking concrete actions to support the people making it happen. Pakistan's IT sector made a notable impression at GITEX GLOBAL Largest Tech & Startup Show in the World 2024 in Dubai, receiving recognition as the "Tech Destination of the Year." More than 200 companies, startups, and specialists from Pakistan presented the nation's expanding impact on the technology landscape at this esteemed global event. Organized by the Ministry of IT and Telecom Pakistan, the Pakistan Pavilion served as a platform for interactions with international industry leaders, IT professionals, and potential investors, establishing Pakistan as an emerging force in the tech industry.
