The era of Artificial Intelligence - Doordarshan (DD) AI Krish and AI Bhoomi - India's sole channel for farmers i.e. Doordarshan Kisan has stepped into the world of Artificial Intelligence and has launched AI Anchors. The Anchors will be able to communicate in 50 languages on various topics like agricultural research, market trends, weather updates, and government schemes. China's Xinhua unveiled the first ever AI anchor in 2018 and since then the world has been witnessing a shift in anchoring. Nicely explained by Amitabh Nag, CEO of Bhashini in very simpler words (See the link at the end) This was in-line with my closing remarks in recent Odisha AI Strategy brainstorming workshop and I will repeat: 1. Identify purpose led Use Cases that reaches Citizens of ours 2. Look for Data and AI models for Use Cases identified in #1. Each have uniqueness and Data has to be appropriate for success 3. Collect or build Data (create synthetic, source led collection, others) based on complexity, diversity, expectation of the Use Case as defined in #1 4. Train the model for adequate Data to make it smarter for your Use Case 5. See the effectiveness of model through inferencing, throughput, latency and benchmark. Based on success and % of error, repeat Step-3 onwards again until its acceptable 6. Ensure its economically viable at scale, otherwise business case fails to scale. Remember #1 it has to reach Citizen at scale. Otherwise as Design Thinking (DT) says, it's feasible but not viable and will remain as research level or pilot. 7. Finally, above all must be with sense of responsibility with humanity in mind. Lastly as Nandan recently said, "Our goal should not be to build one more LLM. Let the big boys in the (Silicon) Valley do it, spending billions of dollars. 33.8 lakh crore from adoption of AI in India? "33.8 lakh crore of economic value from AI adoption can be achieved in India in 2030" says a report from Google press release. The report highlights the immense potential of AI to drive India's growth and address pressing challenges. However, Until we prioritize building a robust AI ecosystem, investing in AI education and training, and ensuring AI benefits reach all segments of society, especially underserved communities, we won't see the kind of economic growth we desire.
