What is interesting is that the kind of IT businesses coming up in Kerala are changing from the simple project services based enterprises, to more technically sophisticated ones that supply high end design, testing, and product solutions. >>Companies like ACSIA Technologies, VINVISH Technologies, Digital Core Technologies, and others are working and thriving in Kerala, and their ranks are growing. That is because the local ecosystem is conducive for the growth of such high end service providers, moving away from the large volume labor cost arbitrage based service providers who were the first wave of IT companies in India. This shift is a good thing for Kerala, because it means that more higher remunerated jobs will be created in the state, that will have synergy with the larger players in other states. >>Pioneers like IBS Technologies and UST Global and Suntech Systems were the trail blazers at time when few thought that Kerala would be a good location for IT businesses. They have now grown to the next orbit, and have become global players with operations in many countries. It is good to see so many new smaller and middle sized IT companies set up shop in Kerala, taking advantage of the lower costs, pool of talent available locally, and good standard of life here. The growth of connectivity and transportation here has helped. >>The biggest asset of Kerala is that IT businesses are scattered across the state, in almost every district. There is a very successful company providing services to global clients located in Wyanad, a hill district in northern Kerala with 10% of the biodiversity of India! There are success stories in Kannur, Kottayam, Perinthalmanna, and Kottarakkara that employ local people skilled in the domains they need.
