Disney Star has rationalised ad rates for the International Cricket Council (ICC) Men's T20 World Cup 2024, compared to the previous edition held in 2022, as the tournament is slated for June 1-29 in the United States and West Indies. On TV, the broadcaster is seeking ad rates of over Rs 6.2 lakh per 10-second spot from sponsors and Rs 6.4 lakh per 10-second spot from spot buyers. In the 2022 edition, the broadcaster sought ad rates of around '9-10 lakh from both sponsors and spot buyers, respectively. Its important to note that negotiated ad rates are typically lower than the card rate. According to a report by TAM Media, ad volumes per match during the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 witnessed a decline of 47% compared to the ICC T20 World Cup 2021. #disneyhotstar #sports #t20wc #usa #india #revenue #digitalad

This T20 World Cup is a broadcaster’s nightmare First the timing. June and Same quarter as IPL. Advertisers have quarterly budgets and many big cricket advertisers already did IPL Second the time of matches. Half of the matches are at 6 AM which will have negligible viewership. Yes ICC events advertising is sold basis the India matches only, but still non India matches viewership will be even lower Third, the pitches. Unpredictable bounce, swing etc have made 100 a competitive score. Not the best pitches for T20 Disney paid a mind boggling 3 billion dollars for ICC TV and digital rights for 2024-2027. There is absolutely no way they can even get close to that number from ads and subscription revenue. Cricket( India home cricket, IPL, ICC) has always been a loss leader for broadcasters, but the increase in the rights prices in last 5-6 years have been insane. In my opinion, we will see a correction in this from the next cycle to make it more sustainable for broadcasters. Because unless it is win-win for all stakeholders ( advertisers, broadcasters and cricket boards), it will be difficult to sustain this in long run

IPL Governing Council announces Player Regulations 2025-2027. 1. Teams can retain SIX players from their existing squad via RTM (Right to Match) or Retention. 2. IPL teams can have as many as FIVE capped players (Indian/Overseas) and TWO (maximum) uncapped players. 3. The auction purse per IPL team is 120 Cr. 4. Overseas players will be needed to register for the Big player auction or face ineligibility in the next player auction. 5. Any player who registers, gets picked up, and then makes himself unavailable ahead of the start of the season will face a two-year ban. 6. Any Indian player who has not played international cricket for five years from the start of the upcoming season will be treated as uncapped. ( For MS Dhoni) 7.
