Powering Australia's South Australian team visited the exciting Tonsley Innovation District for a tour of Hydrogen Park South Australia (HyP SA). They were joined by Powering Skills Organisation’s Peter Adams Anthea Middleton and John G Kelly AM. HyP SA uses a 1.25 MW Proton Exchange Membrane (PEM) electrolyser to produce hydrogen from water and electricity from the grid when renewable energy is abundant. Drawing on the lessons learned from this initial demonstration, Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) have commenced construction on a 10 MW electrolyser at HyP Murray Valley in NSW, with a 60 MW electrolyser planned for HyP Adelaide to come. As an emerging industry, this leadership demonstrates what is possible and enables offtake by hard-to-abate sectors looking to decarbonise. Critically, it also allows development of the skills required for our future hydrogen workforce. Fortunately, TAFE SA’s Tonsley campus is already geared up to deliver hydrogen fundamentals micro credentials courses. #poweringaustralia #cleanenergy #skillsandtraining #energytransition

Over 20 commercial scale CCUS and Hydrogen Projects FID in 2023-‘24 Over 20 commercial-scale carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) projects in seven countries reached FID in 2023 and more than 110 could be firmed up financially this year, according to the latest IEA World Energy Investment 2024 report. If all projects are delivered on time, there will be a near 10-fold increase in CCUS investment by 2025, to $26bn – spurred by government funding and oil and gas company investment – but it remains ‘an open question’ whether all these projects will materialise, the report states. One current CCUS project supported by MyriadGlobal covers the development of the Poseidon and Orion Developments in the UKCS for project developers and partners Perenco CCS (Carbon Storage), Carbon Catalyst Limited, Summit Energy Evolution Limited, Harbour Energy . 🌍 National Energy System Operator's (NESO) 'Clean Power 2030' report couldn’t be any clearer - our power stations and plans to invest billions in renewable flexible electricity and #carbonremovals have a critical role to play in delivering the UK Government’s clean power target and wider climate goals. 💡 Drax Power Station’s secure #biomass generation, and our intention to double the capacity of our pumped #hydro site, Cruachan Power Station, are essential components of the pathways that NESO have set out. 🌿 Plus, NESO highlights that the deployment of #BECCS is required to meet the Government’s carbon removal targets. At Drax, we aim to install at least two units of BECCS at Drax Power Station, with the first operational in 2030 removing 4 million tonnes of carbon from the atmosphere per year. 🔎 Find out more via the link in comments.

Always great to be with the team and delegates at the annual Energy NL Conference and Exhibition. With one of their biggest conferences to date, Energy NL brings together companies and organizations in the industry to collaborate and celebrate the many accomplishments we have made over the years. I was pleased to see an extraordinary international delegation in attendance so governments and businesses can see first hand the talent and skill Newfoundlanders and Labradorians have to offer. One of the successful initiatives we have also introduced by working with the Energy sector is the Green Transition Fund. There has been significant interest shown for the GTF with approximately $2.1 million in funding awarded to date. I was pleased to announce the launch of the second call for expressions of interest for the fund at the conference. This funding will be for projects for businesses, business development organizations, post-secondary institutions and industry associations, as well as other collaborative efforts to assist with the province’s transition to a green economy. Applicants have until July 12, 2024 at 4:00 p.m. NDT to apply. For details on submitting an application, please visit the Green Transition Fund Program webpage. I am extremely optimistic for the future in our energy industry and it was clearer on display throughout the conference. Onwards and upwards! #energy #renewables #Hydrogen #greenenergy #renewableenergy #tech #industry #technology #growth #economicdevelopment #NL #Canada #IET #innovation #oilandgas #mining #EnergyNL #economy #energysector

The Government of Australia has made significant strides to boost its energy transition by enhancing the production of renewable hydrogen. The most recent announcement is a new Hydrogen Production Tax Incentive (HTPI) that will pay developers a subsidy for every kilo of hydrogen produced over ten years. This is just one of the recent announcements made by the Australian Prime Minister. Funds have been allocated for several initiatives and programmes including: - The Hydrogen Headstart programme for renewable H2 projects to bridge the green premium for early-mover renewable hydrogen projects. - Implementation of the National Hydrogen Strategy to support the green metals and low-carbon liquid fuels. - National Hydrogen Technology Skills training centre to promote hydrogen workforce development. These initiatives will go a long way in propelling the renewable hydrogen market in the country and aid in its energy transition efforts. https://lnkd.in/eS-sAszG #GreenH #GreenHydrogen #GovernmentIncentives #EnergyTransition Pic credit: Hydrogen Insight

Cogne Acciai Speciali announces the achievement of the first milestone within the “Green Hydrogen in Cogne” project, with the acquisition of the Enapter AEM Nexus 1000 multi-core electrolyzer, with a capacity of 1 MW. This plant will use electrolysis to generate hydrogen from water, which will then be used in a heat treatment furnace, completely replacing the natural gas currently used in this application. The electrolyzer will be powered by renewable energy, generated by an hydroelectric plant located on the Dora Baltea River, closed to the Aosta facility, and by a newly constructed rooftop solar plant. We are extremely satisfied with this first step, which will enable us to achieve the goal of producing green hydrogen, a clean and renewable energy resource. Cogne Acciai Speciali continues to be at the forefront of reducing CO2 emissions and minimizing the environmental impact of its production cycle. The “Green Hydrogen project in Cogne” is part of the PNRR, Mission: Green Revolution and Ecological Transition, Investment 3.1: Production in abandoned industrial areas. Funded by the European Union – NextGenerationeEU. #CogneAcciaiSpeciali #CogneFuture #NextGenerationEU #PNRR #GreenHydrogenInCogneProject #SustainableEnergy #RenewableEnergy #EcologicalTransition #GreenTechnology

"Clear goals, strong support, and innovative solutions: the Netherlands is leading the way in the development of green hydrogen. With the recent announcement by our Minister of Climate and Green Growth, Sophie Hermans, she is positioning the Netherlands as a hydrogen hub: "the import and transit of hydrogen is providing added value, promoting market liquidity, and contributing to the financing of necessary infrastructures". The role of the European Commission is crucial to realizing this ambition, with the recent approval of €998 million in state aid to subsidize hydrogen production via offshore wind energy, contributing to the construction of at least 200 MW of electrolyzer capacity. It is motivating to see that also at local level the needs of the industry are recognised by taking steps to support the development of green hydrogen, with a new round of offshore wind energy subsidies announced by Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO) | Partner in Sustainable Development. This includes a higher one-off investment subsidy of up to 80% and an earlier operating subsidy over a period of 5-10 years instead of 7-15 years, with no longer a restriction on electrolyzers up to 50 MW. Together, with clear goals, strong support, and innovative solutions, the Netherlands is leading the way in building a more sustainable and decarbonized energy system. Let's continue to work towards a brighter and more sustainable future for all." #energytransition #hydrogen #electrolyzers #decarbonisation #cigre #kivi
