Understanding the difference between healthcare and public health is crucial. While healthcare focuses on treating individual patients when they're sick, public health takes a broader approach. It works to prevent illness and injury altogether, promoting wellness in entire communities. By addressing factors like education, environment, and access to resources, public health strives to create healthier populations for the long term. #PublicHealth #Healthcare #PreventionVsTreatment Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gF6ykgYm

This is a staggering statistic. Telehealth has opened up access for large swaths of the country with little to no behavioral health resources. Interstate licensing compacts and attempts to reduce occupational licensing burdens are additional tools that broaden the pool of talented providers. Still, we must recognize that telehealth is only one treatment method for some situations. There is something lost when you are not able to engage in person. For some, performing their ADLs and showing up somewhere on time is an important part of their treatment. I have been in situations where the smell of someone or the way they walk have been important clues to their mental state. We should find solutions that support high-quality and effective care. #telehealth #behavioralhealth #sud #addiction #recovery
Requiring an in-person visit with a provider within 6 months before receiving a tele-mental health service creates an unnecessary and stigmatizing burden to care. We urge Congress to support the Telemental Health Care Access Act that would repeal this requirement.

So many people cannot even access a provider, a provider who can do offer in-person visits post covid, or risk missing an in-person visit due to transportation, child care, illness or many other reasons. Let’s stop creating barriers to #mentalhealth care.

It’s World Health Day today. Global public health days offer great potential to raise awareness and understanding about health issues and mobilize support for action. As a rebel to my health, you know the guy that hates going to see doctors and dentists, on this day I encourage those to take care of your health. As I get older, I still remain a rebel, but with more understanding as to the importance of taking care of yourself. #WHO #worldhealthday #healthyliving
