I love mavericks 💜 Those who refuse to conform. Dare to be different. Challenge the status quo. Those that don't settle for broken. Especially when it comes to the careers of young people. For years, I have been frustrated by the way some in our industry churn through early career talent. I've witnessed the open days, the first-day' new trainee cohort' photos, and grads used as show ponies, like lambs to the slaughter, often destined for failure. Yeah, some may make the cut, but often, the 75% dropout rate is simply accepted as part of the process. There is often no real training and support, and there is pressure to bill in five minutes, get on the phone, and sink or swim. I’ve seen my fair share of talented young people with bags of potential slip through the net. On the flip side, I have seen it work. Businesses that have worked hard to get their managers prepared, culture right and most importantly, their training house in order. They've created exceptional environments for their early career recruiters to thrive, not just survive. But unfortunately, that isn't the norm. We’ve needed change for a while.
