At NO HARM, we know that it’s not enough to simply recognize the scourge of Domestic Violence each October. We must commit to doing something about it. When we only focus on individual perpetrators, who undoubtedly must be held accountable, we can easily ignore the culture that encourages many men to perpetrate everyday acts of harm towards women and girls, the community, and other men. When we glorify violence, sexual conquests, materialism, and the acquisition of power, we set the stage for those who will use all manners of violence to maintain dominance and control. The report highlights the close links between domestic abuse and violence, women's homelessness and sex for rent exploitation. Every child deserves safety and security, regardless of gender. An urgent issue often overlooked is protecting boys from sexual violence. Boys are not immune to sexual violence; they can be victims too. Yet, societal norms often perpetuate the myth that boys should be tough and invulnerable. This misconception can prevent them from seeking help or reporting abuse.  It is time to shatter the silence and raise awareness about the vulnerability boys face. We must dismantle stereotypes and create safe spaces where boys feel empowered to speak up without fear of judgment or stigma.
