Happy to be invited to be part of the workshop on Building a common roadmap". This workshop brings together blue youth networks who share similar priorities and values. Discussions will be focusing on strengthening the participatory space for young people in international (e.g. UNOC) and EU “blue” democratic processes, while also addressing the need to diversify those spaces by making them more accessible to and empowering for marginalised groups. The final goal is to translate ideas into actionable proposals. @youth4ocean-forum.eu

🎬 The United Nations Summit of the Future starts TODAY! What considerations are needed for youth and future generations? Global governments are trying to salvage the sustainable development goals by producing an intergovernmental pact for the future. With one of the major chapters dedicated to youth and future generations, we spoke to Edma Lawer, founder of Ghanaian youth empowerment platform YEWGlobal, for three important youth considerations for the upcoming summit. Her third consideration is the importance of intergenerational dialogue.

Today is the United Nations International Day of Peace. Today, the world pauses to unite for something that transcends borders, politics, and differences: the possibility of peace. For me, lasting peace is not just about the absence of conflict; it’s about how we show up in the world, how we engage with others, and how we respectfully hold each other accountable. With my work around the world, I’ve seen many times how even the simple act of authentically and safely engaging from the heart can melt away the barriers that divide us. When we disarm ourselves, we disarm others, and suddenly, something shifts—what was once tense or hostile becomes a space of connection and possibility. As we mark this powerful milestone, I invite you to join me in a global commitment to "un-divide the world, together." Whether you’re joining the Peace Wave at noon in your time zone (https://lnkd.in/eRUwScnR) or participating in other events across the globe, remember that peace isn’t just an external act—it’s an internal practice. It’s how we choose to approach the world and each other, even in the most difficult moments. Check out this website to find out how you can get involved today: https://lnkd.in/eAV5C5cA What can you do today to disarm your heart and find a creative way to honor this impactful event? How can you show up in a new way with compassion and courage? Every small act creates a ripple of peace out into the world. Let’s occupy our hearts and unite for peace today, tomorrow, and every day. Let’s un-divide the world, one heart at a time. . . . . #worldpeace #internationaldayofpeace #unitednations #peace #peacewithin #peaceandlove #innerpeace #peaceday United Nations Unity for Peace United Nations Foundation

It's almost one month after the United Nation Civil Society Conference, one of its own for the first time in the Global South. As we head to the Summit of the Future, there is a need for a robust grassroot engagement to ensure inclusive voices in the " IMPACT COALITION FOR THE FUTURE GENERATION". At the conference, it was agreed that we should break Youth Councils and directly focus on reaching the most undeserved young people whose voice will be crucial in the Youth Pact - we are moving from amplifying Youth Voices to implementing Youth ideas. Awake is following up closely with United Nation Foundation to ensure we engage young people at grassroot. To understand more, here are the details of IMPACT COALITION FOR THE FUTURE:https://shorturl.at/2hP6c

🌍 International Day of Peace – September 21 🕊️ Today, we unite globally to recognize the importance of peace, nonviolence, and solidarity. The International Day of Peace reminds us of the power of dialogue, compassion, and collective action in creating a more just and harmonious world. At the Forage Center for Peacebuilding and Humanitarian Education, we are committed to fostering these values through experiential learning, peacebuilding, and humanitarian education. Together, we can build a future where peace is possible for all. These actions, big or small, can promote peace and help us take meaningful steps to make peace a reality: - Promote Dialogue and Understanding Open conversations with others, especially those with differing perspectives. Encouraging respectful dialogue helps build mutual understanding and prevents conflicts. - Support Humanitarian Efforts Contribute to or volunteer with organizations that provide aid and relief to those affected by conflict. - Practice Nonviolence In both personal and public conflicts, advocate for nonviolent solutions, nonviolence fosters resolution and healing. - Educate and Empower Engage in peace education and empower others to become peacebuilders in their own communities. Knowledge and awareness are essential in creating a culture of peace. 🌍✌️ #InternationalDayofPeace #Peacebuilding #HumanRights #ForageCenter #GlobalSolidarity #PeaceForAll

Today, as we celebrate the International Day of Peace, I’m reminded of the critical role youth play in peacebuilding. As I shared during my keynote at the Global Alliance for Ministries and Infrastructure for Peace (GAMIP) program, titled "The Contribution of Youths in Peacebuilding and Campaign for Infrastructures for Peace," explored the powerful role of youth in building sustainable peace. Young people are not just bystanders, they are powerful agents of change, shaping peaceful futures in their communities. ✨ From my personal journey of raising peace ambassadors in schools and empowering young minds, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of youth-led peace initiatives. When we equip youth with the tools for leadership and development, we are building a culture of peace that can endure for generations and foster social cohesion🌱✊ But achieving this culture of peace requires collaboration. It’s only through collective efforts that we can achieve the Global Goals and foster sustainable peace across the world. But to truly cultivate a culture of peace, there must be a shift in how society perceives young people. It's time to move beyond the constructed identities that view youth solely as beneficiaries or perpetrators of violence, and instead, recognize them as champions of peace. 🌍✨ We are already witnessing remarkable support from organizations like United Nations Youth Office, SDSN Youth, Restless Development, One Young World, Global Partnership for Education, Nigeria Youth SDGs Network and several civil society initiatives that are giving youth the platform to voice their visions for the SDGs and act on them. Yet, despite this progress, there’s more to be done. We need more systems and platforms that acknowledge youth actions and create opportunities for them to speak and lead initiatives that contribute to positive change and sustainable development. Today, as we celebrate this International Day of Peace, let us not just talk about peace—let’s act for peace. Happy International Day of Peace🕊️ ✌️ #InternationalDayOfPeace #GlobalGoals #Youthlead #ChangeMakers #YouthForPeace #WorldPeaceDay #Summitofthefuture
