For first-gen's, the stakes for taking a risk to do something for the first time can feel extremely high! First-gens might ask: What happens if I am not successful? How will those depending on me be able to trust I can follow through? Will I be able to help my family and community if I don't make it? Celebrating little wins is just as important as celebrating the big ones. It tips the balance toward excitement and away from anxiety. To My First Gen Community: Research shows that celebrating wins can: 🙌 Increase your confidence 🙌 Increase your motivation 🙌 Increase your feelings of connection to others Additionally, it: 🙌 Allows space for reflection on lessons learned 🙌 Builds a stepping stone for making intentional next steps 🙌 Creates a ripple effect lifting not only your spirits but those around you This is not my first time recruiting a first-gen team it is getting close to my 10th... but there was a first time, and back then, it felt scary.
