When we first launched our Pilates classes, we identified a clear gap in the market—support and last-minute coverage for gyms, clubs, and hotels. We saw a significant pain point for these businesses in meeting the growing demand for Pilates, especially as the popularity of the practice surged over the past two years. Rather than creating something new, we decided to focus on supporting the establishments already serving their communities, helping them fill in the gaps where they needed it most. Last-minute class coverage, ongoing timetable management, and corporate bookings are all important services, but they only truly become a priority when the need arises. That’s where we come in—offering dependable, flexible solutions to businesses in the wellness industry. We’re proud to provide value to a wide range of businesses as a trusted B2B partner, and we’re especially excited to welcome our newest client, Studio Tarw—a thriving boutique fitness studio in the heart of Cardiff city center. We’re thrilled to be supporting them and look forward to building a long-lasting partnership!

Pilates, and wellbeing at or before work I would love to introduce Pilates and wellbeing sessions to more workplaces, helping companies to transform their wellbeing policy into a meaningful policy instead of a tick box exercise. Companies I have done this with have found this to be a great way to keep their staff focussed and help with their mobility. Having regular Pilates sessions will help us to stop us sitting for too long in one place. Pilates will help with relaxation and sleep quality, will help to improve posture, and core strength and help to improve flexibility with mobility. Having Pilates classes bespoke for companies will help with team work and help employees to keep focussed. The class will take place on Zoom in the comfort of their own homes, or at work places. Employees can get down from their desk carry out the class and get back on their chairs feeling more mobile, relaxed, and able to concentrate on the task in hand. Pilates involves core strengthening, relaxation, and flexibility work so the need for a shower after a class is not necessary. But, will leave participants relaxed and refreshed ready to get back to work. By having employees join in with my existing Pilates classes will help to keep costs down for smaller companies whilst still enabling employees to gain the same benefits. If you know anyone who would like to find out how this could benefit their employees please do get in touch. #fitandfabulouspilates #fitandfabulous #zoompilates #pilatesinstructor

Three insights for the Global Pilates market I got after talking to many of our international partners over the last week: 1. Group classes In many market consumer interest in Pilates is peaking, and reformer group classes (Pilates-based workouts on a reformer) are driving that demand. Whether a fad or a longer term trend remains to be seen, however if you haven't tried a group class or haven't found a solution for this yet; you're missing out. It lowers barriers to entry into Pilates, and is a great way to tone your body. 2. Rehab / physical therapists Heralded by the Pilates community for years, it seems finally physical therapists (and where applicable health insurance companies!) are buying into Pilates. Likely the biggest cause for this is the deteriorating posture from the many hours spent behind computers and mobile phones. When you're in pain, you'll find a solution; and Pilates is just that. 3. Supplementing training regimes From bodybuilders to dancers, from professional athletes to your local football club, increasingly athletes are seeing the benefits of Pilates as addendum to their training regimen. While Pilates currently is mostly a supplement, the substitution of certain parts of powertraining appears imminent. The reason is injury prevention (for example reducing tendon-tears for bodybuilders), and the effect is a signicantly decreased fall-out rate. All in all, tapping into a global health and wellness trend, not just Pilates in general, but reformer Pilates specifically, is set for years of growth. And we from BASI Systems will be right there pushing is, because: We're not here to take part. We're here to take over! #growth #pilates #reformerpilates #industrytrends #trendspotting #bodybuilding #powertraining #fitness #mainstream #healthcare #werenotheretotakepartwereheretotakeover #inittowinit

I’ve got big news today! 🌟 We’re stepping out into the heart of Leicester to bring a slice of our studio directly to you. Join us for a public Pilates demonstration this Friday, 1pm at St. Peter's Square, right outside the Showcase Cinema at Highcross - weather permitting, of course! Ever wondered what Pilates could do for you? Well, this is your perfect chance to see it in action. Our team will be on-site, rolling out mats and showing just how transformative a regular Pilates practice can be. From building a stronger core and enhancing flexibility to boosting your bone health and reducing stress - Pilates packs a real punch! Plus, if you’ve ever been curious about Sound baths or yoga, we’ll be there to chat about those too. We believe these practices are for everyone and can make a massive difference in your overall wellbeing, helping you feel more confident in your body and your life. Improving sleep, resting heart rate, blood pressure, and more. Here’s the best part: not only will you get to meet some of our fantastic teachers and see a live demonstration, but you’ll also get a chance to sign up for a class absolutely free. Yes, you heard me right - your first class on us! Why are we doing this? Because we’re passionate about making health and wellness accessible. We know the hustle and bustle of daily life in Leicester can make it tough to take that first step towards a healthier lifestyle. That’s why we’re bringing Pilates to you, making it as easy as possible for city workers and residents to dip their toes into something new and transformative. For my fellow business owners out there, here’s my thought for today: never underestimate the power of going to where your customers are. An engaging live demo or a friendly face-to-face chat can do wonders for breaking down barriers and building community ties. It’s about more than just showcasing what you do, it’s about enriching your community with a personal touch and genuine care. So, mark your calendars! We can’t wait to meet you, show you the ropes (or mats, in our case), and hopefully get you as excited about Pilates as we are. See you in St. Peter’s Square! #PilatesInTheSquare #UFitStudio #LeicesterEvents #HealthAndWellness

A Pilates reformer is not a fitness instructor who tries to amend your evil ways. It is in fact a piece of exercise equipment that looks like a bed frame, but with a platform that rolls on wheels instead of a mattress. Not much sleep to be had there, then. I tell you this because I have just spotted news of a funding round for (nominally) Belfast-based startup, Reform RX, a purveyor of said equipment. The headline in The Irish News that alerted me to this raise read, “Newry-founded firm hailed as ‘the Peloton of the reformer Pilates world’ raises another £1.5m”. To be honest, I really wouldn’t want to be held up as the Peloton of anything given its long history of gargantuan losses (witness my prior posts). Reform RX was founded in 2018 by Pilates instructor (described by Sky News as a "functional movement specialist”) Yvette McGaffin (CEO) and ’strategic planner’ husband Neal McGaffin (COO). The couple have been running (and still run) Pilates studios Hone Pilates (t/a Reform but without the RX) since 2014. There seems to be some confusion as to the size of the raise. While The Irish News alludes to £1.5m, other media refer to $5.1m. I’m still trying to unpick this. In any event, the round was led by (also Belfast-based) Clarendon Fund Managers, which manages the Investment Fund for Northern Ireland. I am also confused about where the beating heart of Reform RX really lies. The contact phone number on their website has a California dialling code, and its financing partner is Klarna US (and please don’t get me started again about the evils of BNPL!). So where (and by whom) is the kit made, I wonder? In any event, I suspect most punters would need finance on account of the fact that the kit costs £7,438.00 (though you do get a five-year warranty on the frame and footbar). For an extra £620.00 you can also get a box (?), a mat and a ‘jumpboard’ (presumably not to be put near a window when you get the invoice). Oh, and you also have to pay $39 pm (minimum 12 months) for membership which gives you “unlimited training sessions with expert instructors”. Media reports suggest that Reform RX generated $1m in revenues within two weeks of launch and sold out during Q1 2023. All I can tell you for sure is that by the end of 2022, Reform RX was carrying a little over £1m in accumulated losses – mostly accumulated in 2022. Very simply, getting into fitness hardware is a huge mistake. If Peloton, with its huge financial backing, can’t make a dollar out of it, what chance the McGaffins? By the way, the pic is from the Belfast Telegraph. It is captioned “Neal McGaffin of Reform RX leads a Pilates class”. Make of that what you will.
