ITN Business and the British Skin Foundation (BSF) have partnered to take an up close and unfiltered look at the developments in dermatology for a news-style programme, ‘The Future of Dermatology: Spotlight on Skin’. In the programme we will explore the stories showcasing the research, the developments and the breakthroughs that can bring about life changing results, physically and psychologically, for people living with skin disease. Hosted by presenter Sangeeta Kandola at ITN’s London studio, the digital programme will launch in December 2024 and will explore the following themes: - Exploring the science behind skin conditions, looking at the importance of funding scientific research and the benefits it brings. - Developments in dermatology, showcasing new treatments, medications and approaches to different skin conditions. - Highlighting the discrepancies in dermatology for skin of colour – something textbooks have often overlooked. - Awareness in less common conditions for a faster diagnosis and / or awareness in the latest developments. With nearly 70% of the global population affected by sensitive skin, I am proud of the significant progress that Galderma is making in addressing this often-overlooked condition. Our Global Sensitive Skincare Faculty (GSSF), established in September 2022, underscores our commitment to deepening understanding and advancing treatment strategies to improve the lives of those with sensitive skin, a complex and often interconnected condition that affects billions of people worldwide every day. A recently published paper led by GSSF Fellow Erika T. McCormick and GSSF Co-Chair Professor Adam Friedman at George Washington University School of Medicine highlighted a significant educational gap in sensitive skin during dermatology residency programs in the United States Key findings published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology revealed a limited consensus over diagnostic and management approaches to sensitive skin, and a gap in awareness of the Sensitive-Scale 10 tool among residents, despite its usefulness. The paper highlights the ongoing efforts of the GSSF, which brings together global experts with a mission to improve understanding and management of sensitive skin.
