Subpar Angler. Decent Hunter. Relentless Mil/Vet Advocate.

Last night, I had the immense honor of attending the Sunset Parade, at the Marine Corps Memorial, in honor of Senator Ted Budd (R-NC). The Marine Corps’ sunset and evening parades are always beautiful, but I found myself a bit emotional watching last night. Last night, Kayla Haas served as Adjutant of the parade. For those unaware, it is incredibly rare to see a woman in the parade. It’s even more rare to see them leading it, as Adjutant. For generations, little girls saw Marines and had to question whether they could hold their own among the ranks of men. Sure, they could aspire to become a United States Marine, but they didn’t have a visual representation of what they were striving to become - a role model or a hero, if you will. Now, little girls across the country have the chance to SEE that they, too, can become United States Marines. It’s no longer simply a dream. It’s clear as day - they can break through ceilings, they can blaze new trails, and they can lead United States Marines. She did that. #marinecorps #marines #semperfidelis #betheone #washingtondc
