Surprised our DMV Enrollment Directors with a visit from one of our Admissions Coordinators (Cory Van Wickler) and lunch!!! At Embark Behavioral Health the relationship between our admissions team and our enrollment directors is such an important one when it comes helping families get into care as quickly as possible. Meeting Cory in person for the first time in-person was really exciting for the team. Shavonne Gray, LPC Muge Khalaf Sara Boothe Desiree Latte

During and after the shock of being told your kid is diabetic, during and after the steep learning curve of medical needs and advocacy, during and after the attempt to find a new routine, it is always hard to find support as a dad / man of a T1D child. Most support groups will be composed of moms and it can be lonely being the only dad. How do you share your fears, your anguish, your vulnerability, your work stress amplified by being a caregiver on top of a career? The discussion will be open to any relevant topics to support each other. No judgment. No stupid questions. No off-the-table topics. All we ask is to respect the others and to understand we are not all at the same level of comfort in sharing. Join us tomorrow, October 11 at 12pm PDT for a great discussion. https://lnkd.in/eZQnzsmj Here's Michelle, our Director, talking about our upcoming Restorative Practice for Families, Parents and Carers course. There are many reasons why families sign up with us. Here's just a few problems that people have shared in the sessions: - a teenager who was persistently excluded from school - a primary child who struggled with anger and 'temper tantrums' - a Year 7 who was too anxious to attend secondary school - a family where conflict was a part of everyday life and who wanted a more harmonious house. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with an experienced restorative practitioner to gain expert advice and guidance on how to support your child. It's backed up by evidence-based theory that can be applied to many different scenarios and will transform how you see your child's behaviour. Reform, ADR, Part 17. There was a comment “Considering that many homeowners who serve on our boards have the potential to not be qualified for their positions I am not sure why we would not review a questionable decision.” This statement is a seductive gaslight. EVERYONE has the potential be unqualified. That is why their neighbors get to choose whether they are qualified. But what are the qualifications? To me, the qualifications are common sense and the ability to act in good faith. If I could pick a third qualification, I would add humility. If I could pick a fourth qualification, I would add a track record of doing things. Showing up every day to add value, whether it be raising a family, driving a city bus, or practicing emergency medicine. People who live in a vacuum of achievement often seek other ways to feel fulfilled, which does not bode well for a leadership position.

Today’s therapy share is from Leslie Terrell, CSH assistant director of speech services. 🦈🪸🌊 One way to engage children in speech therapy activities is through sensory exercises. Children love hands-on activities, and this one also introduces several vocabulary words as well. Using a bin filled with water and ocean animals, our little ones can practice saying words like - Open/close - In/out - Stir/shake/swim/splash This activity also allows children to make autonomous choices when deciding which animal to put in the water and practice exclamatory words like ‘wow’ and ‘whoa’ or description words like wet, cold, colors and sizes. #ColumbusSpeechandHearing #CSH #SpeechTherapy
