29/30 | Magic Questions | What if you no need to find answers for all questions you have? 🤔 Have you ever found yourself in a situation where seeking answers led to more problems than solutions? I recently experienced this when trying to understand someone's actions. Reflecting on such experiences, I've realized that not all questions require answers, especially when it comes to others' behaviors. Instead of fixating on "why do they do that?," it might be more beneficial to shift our focus to asking useful questions like: - Why do we need to explore reason behind? - Is it worth pursuing an answer, considering the potential consequences? - What sacrifices in terms of time, money, or emotions to uncover the truth? - Is it necessary to seek answers immediately, or can patience reveal more? - What if we never receive answers? Remember, not all questions require answers. Embrace the unknown, and focus on personal growth and resilience instead. ⛔ How Many Times Have You Tried to Change a System—and Failed? Let’s be honest. How many times have you stared at a broken system—a company process, an outdated policy, or even a global issue—and thought, “I can fix this!”? You came armed with logic, data, maybe even passion. You tried the intuitive approach, explaining your case step by step. When that didn’t work, you went counterintuitive, thinking maybe the unexpected could spark action. Yet the system didn’t budge. Not even a millimeter. Why? Because changing systems is like trying to steer a massive ship with a toothpick—it feels impossible. But what if we’ve been using the wrong tools all along? 🧠 The Battle Within: Your Brain vs. Theirs Here’s a fascinating—and scientifically grounded—truth: When we encounter ideas that challenge our deeply held beliefs, our brain perceives it as a threat. When this happens, the amygdala (our brain’s fear and fight-or-flight center) becomes activated, releasing stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol. In both personal and professional life, creativity is often misunderstood as a sudden spark of brilliance💡, but the truth is far more complex. Creativity isn't a "light bulb moment" that strikes randomly—it’s a product of perseverance, discipline, and repeated effort. Perseverance is like a muscle—it needs to be trained and strengthened. The more we push through challenges, the better we get at navigating obstacles, whether in problem-solving, innovation, or personal growth. Over time, this habit of enduring and refining becomes a cornerstone of creativity. I’ve seen this firsthand in an arena very close to my heart—ice hockey. My kids play, and after countless hours of training, pushing through fatigue and frustration, they achieve moments of brilliance and intuition. These bursts of creativity on the ice aren’t accidents. They come after weeks of disciplined practice, where perseverance laid the foundation for their instincts to shine. The same principle applies in our workplaces. Perseverance unlocks creativity by allowing us to refine ideas, push boundaries, and ultimately reach solutions we might not have considered before. Which leads me to a thought-provoking question: with the rise of generative AI, will we lose this need to persevere? Will these systems do the heavy lifting, allowing us to bypass the critical process of persistence that drives true innovation? AI can enhance efficiency, but there’s something uniquely human about the combination of creativity and perseverance. Sometimes, the best ideas don’t come from a boardroom—they come from a cabin in the mountains. That’s exactly why I’ve packed up and headed to Dalhousie for the next 4-5 days. My plan? To escape the daily noise, take a step back, and give myself the space to think creatively about the next phase of growth for Supervity. We all need those moments to just reset, and I’ve realised over time that my most innovative ideas come when I’m away from the hustle. There’s something about the simplicity of it. Right now, I’m sitting in a wooden cabin overlooking misty mountains, with fast wifi and a warm cup of chai next to me. It’s funny how the things you really need to be productive can be boiled down to just these essentials: a clear head, a peaceful view, and some good chai. Dalhousie is delivering on all fronts! And here’s the twist—while we’re busy building cloud-based AI agents, I’m literally working from 'above the clouds' right now! I’ve always believed that creativity doesn’t happen on demand. You can’t force it to show up in a scheduled meeting or a packed calendar. It comes when you let go, give yourself time, and just... breathe. Over the years, I’ve made these creative escapes a regular part of my process, and every single time, I’ve come back with fresh ideas and new energy. Nature has a way of slowing everything down. Out here, with no city noise and no constant stream of emails and notifications, my mind is able to wander in ways it can’t when I’m in the thick of the grind. That’s when the best ideas show up—when you give them the space to breathe. So, for the next few days, I’m locking myself away here, confident that by the end of this escape, something special will emerge for Supervity #AIAgents. Sometimes, the only way to move forward is to first step back.

Humans generally struggle with unpredictability.   Ever heard of a psychological moonshots?   I first stumbled across this concept a while ago in one of Rory Sutherland's TED Talks. I was recently reminded of it again in Steven Bartlett's awesome book 'The Diary of a CEO'.   This is how Steven describes it - "A psychological moonshot is a relatively small investment that drastically improves the perception of something."   Here are some examples of companies that have successfully put it into practice;   Uber’s Moonshot: The Power of Knowing   Uber's killer feature was its real-time map, which displayed exactly where your car was. The key insight behind this innovation was understanding the human fear of not knowing when and where your ride will arrive. This uncertainty can make people feel powerless and anxious. The simple act of showing the car's location on a map eases this anxiety. The same principle applies to progress bars, even if they're not entirely accurate – they provide a sense of progress and control.   Domino’s Moonshot: The Pizza Tracker   The Domino’s Pizza Tracker is more than just a gimmick; it’s a psychological moonshot. It leverages the power of Operational Transparency to transform the pizza delivery experience. It peels back the layers of uncertainty and keeps customers informed, resulting in increased satisfaction and trust.   This innovation doesn’t merely serve as a tool for tracking your pizza but as a beacon of transparency, proving that a simple idea can revolutionise an entire industry. Domino’s Pizza Tracker is a testament to the fact that in the world of business, a little transparency goes a long way in building trust and delivering happiness.   So you might be wondering how this relates to the world of pricing and the work we do at Biz Growth Spurt...   The number one reason for businesses not changing their prices is FEAR OF LOSING CUSTOMERS and the uncertainty around how customers will react.   By helping companies that we work with take a structured and scientific approach to measuring willingness to pay, quantifying value across different segments based on their complexity of needs, performing controlled experiments with subsets of the customer base and prospects, we are able to significantly reduce uncertainty and give our clients the confidence to move forward with an optimal pricing strategy.   But we also go beyond the science. Here's an example of how I've been using A.I. to open up my creative thinking: At a Change Makers workout on Tuesday, we asked Claude.ai (kind of like a more 'human-like' Chat GPT) to give us five reflective journalling questions. Here's what it came up with:  1. What was the most challenging situation you faced recently, and how did you handle it?  2. In what ways have you grown or changed over the past year?  3. What are three things you're grateful for today, and why?  4. If you could give advice to your younger self, what would you say?  5. What is one goal you have for the future, and what steps can you take to achieve it? Meh. Seen them before. Nothing particularly inspiring there! So we asked Claude a different question: "Can you please give us five more. Make them a little more left-field and creative." Here's what it came up with the second time around:  1. If your emotions were weather patterns, what's today's forecast and why?  2. Imagine you're a time traveler from 2123. What surprises you most about our current world?  3. If you could have a conversation with any object in your room, which would it be and what would you ask?  4. Write a six-word story that captures your life philosophy.  5. If your personal growth had a scent, what would it smell like and how has it changed over time? OK. Now we're talking. Those questions really got us thinking (and laughing!) With just a little bit of a tweak to the prompt (requiring some creative thinking of our own) we got a whole different response. I'm curious.
