A study by the University of Southern California revealed that if you live in a metropolitan area and drive 12,000 miles a year you can acquire the equivalent of two years of college education in three years’ time by listening to educational information in your car. Since the average American adult spends from two hundred to seven hundred hours each year in an automobile, this is good news. Here’s 3 key takeaways from listening to an audio book on my morning commute to work. “If you are not becoming a winner, you will find it almost impossible to win with others.” “If you don’t believe that you have something of great value to offer another person, namely yourself, you’ll never truly win with people.” “Your relationships can only be as healthy as you are.” P.S. if you’re interested in books on business, leadership, and personal development make sure to follow me here on LinkedIn. I’m going to post quotes from the audio books that I’m listening to on my commute to work Monday - Friday.

The best form of leadership? Self-leadership. If you can’t lead yourself, how do you expect to lead others? Adam House Sr. discussed this on his weekly "Brick of the Week" segment with Keith Bilous, Christopher Martin, Jon Andersen and Kristina Flynn on Mornings in the Lab with Keith & Friends Here’s why self-leadership is the key to success: 1. 𝗜𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗼𝘄𝗻𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽. If you don’t own your choices, someone else will. No one is going to care more about your life than you do. 2. 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁. If you can’t trust yourself to follow through, how will anyone else? Leadership starts with setting a standard for yourself—and sticking to it. 3. 𝗛𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝘀 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗱𝗼 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴. You can’t succeed in one area of life by neglecting the rest. True leaders are balanced. Personal life, business, health—everything matters. Lead yourself first. Everything else follows. P.S. What’s one area of your life you need to lead better?

The Power of Vulnerability in Leadership - Does True Strength Come from Being Authentic? Some time ago I shared a very personal story here on LinkedIn. I had thought long about if this was a topic that belonged on LinkedIn. I came to the conclusion that it was something that had impacted my private and professional life for an entire decade and I came to the conclusion that I would have welcomed such a message when I was in the middle of my struggle. Said and done, I shared my personal story and I have been completely overwhelmed by the warm messages that I have received in all sorts of way. Several people have also shared that they are in the same situation and that they felt encouraged by my story. What have I learned from this? First of all, leadership is evolving. It’s no longer solely defined by authority, decisiveness, or sheer charisma. Today, leaders who can make a lasting impact are those who show up authentically, embrace their imperfections, and lead with vulnerability. While vulnerability might seem contrary to strength, I'm convinced that it amplifies a leader’s power by fostering trust, inspiring resilience, and connecting people on a deeper level. Are you interested in the topic? Want to know how more how embracing vulnerability in leadership can transform not only leaders, but also the teams they guide? Then drop me a message and I will share more. Learn & Lead the Way, Frida

I’ve always considered myself a good leader. But last year, I realized something important: Leadership isn’t just about natural ability. For years, I relied on my instincts to: ➟ Motivate my team ➟ Achieve goals ➟ Build relationships But even good leaders can grow. That’s when I learned something fascinating about leadership. Great leadership isn’t about being perfect. It’s about small, consistent actions that create impact: • Listening to your team with empathy • Celebrating small wins publicly • Adapting your style to meet individual needs • Showing vulnerability when it matters I started incorporating these practices. Within weeks, trust deepened. Bonds became stronger. And our results improved significantly. The truth is: leadership is a journey, not a destination. And the best part? ❌ You don’t have to get everything right at once. ❌ You don’t need to have all the answers. ❌ You just need to keep showing up and evolving. Want to develop your leadership? Start with just one of these habits tomorrow. That’s it. One small action. The rest will follow. What’s one small leadership habit that made a big difference for you? ♻️ Found this helpful? When experience and expertise are not enough to make a decision, you, as a leader have one option. Your True Moral Compass it is your personal way of discerning what really matters, what is responsible, and what is pragmatically wise when you face a hard, complex decision. When you rely on your Personal Moral Wisdom, you are inevitably answering four fundamental questions – and you are answering these questions personally: 1. What really matters? 2. What is my responsibility? 3. What will work? 4. What can I live with, as a person and a professional? Personal moral wisdom is a powerful idea. The right decision in leadership moments is what you finally decide is right. But this decision isn’t automatic, intuitive, or even correct. It doesn’t show you what is right. Its crucial role is helping you Decide what is Right. What are your thoughts? * Harvard Business School, Joseph L. Badaracco, Your True Moral Compass: Defining Reality, Responsibility, and Practicality in Your Leadership Moments.

Clark, you've perfectly captured the three essential pillars that every effective leader must possess - clarity, energy, and skills. Without these foundational elements, even the most well-intentioned leader will struggle to inspire and guide their team successfully. Let me expand on each one: 1. Clarity You hit the nail on the head. A leader without a clear vision and sense of purpose is rudderless. Clarity provides the direction, aligns the team, and gives meaning to the collective work. An ambiguous or constantly shifting vision breeds confusion and disengagement. 2. Energy A leader's energy is absolutely contagious - it can spark motivation or lethargy in their team. By prioritizing your own well-being through exercise, proper fuel, and rest, you cultivate a vigor that becomes a renewable source of inspiration. A lethargic leader projects apathy. 3. Skills Leadership is indeed a skill-set that can be developed and honed through practice. Without competencies like communication, emotional intelligence, decision-making, and team cohesion, a leader must resort to dictation rather than unification. True leaders inspire, not dictate. You make an astute point - possessing just one or two of these pillars is insufficient for great leadership. Clarity without energy leads to a stagnant vision. Energy without skills creates an aimless force. Skills without clarity produces busyness without impact. However, when a leader embodies all three - clarity, energy, and skills - they become a powerful catalyst for driving teams towards extraordinary results. Your offer to provide guidance resonates, as leadership development should never be neglected. The world truly needs more inspiring, skilled leaders who can channel clarity and energizing vision into reality. Thanks for sharing this insightful leadership framework!
As a leader, you need 3 things to be successful for your team. With these 3 things, people will want to follow you and you'll be more effective. 1. Clarity Clarity of your vision and purpose. If you don't know where you are going and why you are going there, you will appear lost. Leaders are not lost. 2. Energy Your energy is contagious. Workout, fuel yourself for success, rest and recover... a lethargic leader looks uninspired. Leaders are not uninspired. 3. Skills Leadership can be taught, and much of it is connection and communication. Without leadership skills, you will be forced to dictate. Leaders are not dictators. The world of leadership development is massive, and there is so much to learn. However, you do not have to learn everything to be a great leader. At a minimum, work on these three and you will be off to the races. But let me reiterate, you cannot be a great leader without these three. Imagine trying to lead with only two of these... it leaves a lot to be desired. ~~~ If you need help becoming the leader you are meant to be, or know someone who needs help, send me a message "Leader" and I'll connect. As Seth Godin said in his book Tribes, "We need you to lead us."

Your title doesn’t make you a great leader. How you make your team feel does. Important reminder from my friend John Castro. Leadership isn’t about authority or status. It’s about inspiring and empowering others. Successful leaders choose words that… - Build trust - Inspire confidence - Empower their teams Here are 10 phrases that separate great leaders from the rest: 1. I trust you. 2. You got this. 3. How can I help? 4. I value your opinion. 5. Let’s do this together. 6. I believe you can do it. 7. You have my full support. 8. Where can I help you grow? 9. Let’s celebrate your progress. 10. What do you think of this idea? Using these phrases can boost your team’s spirit and performance. The words you use build the culture you lead. Which phrase resonates the most? We like this list because of its focus on the people aspects of leadership. As highlighted in yesterday’s post, when leaders are promoted from a technical background, these important people leadership skills may not be strong. The good news is that all all these skills CAN be developed. First, acknowledge something needs to be improved, then seek help. #leadershipdevelopment #teameffectiveness #collaboration
