✔️ Talking about your work is part of your work. ✔️ Building relationships across your organisation is part of your work. ✔️ Looking up from the busy task list and planning in some time to do long term proactive activities is part of your work. All of these things will also help you invest in your career as well as your day job. Far too many people I meet on career accelerator programmes are well through their career and realise they haven't invested in themselves, their professional relationships or their career planning. I promise you it is time well spent. It sucks when you lose out on an opportunity to someone who HAS made time to do these things. Especially when you are better at your job. 🩷 I am a career development coach and speaker. I help leaders thrive and fulfil their potential. Struggling to pinpoint your career direction? You're not alone! 🧭 Sometimes the path ahead seems shrouded in mist, with each step as uncertain as the last. If you're searching for clarity, pause and reflect—this is not just about carving a niche; it's about understanding where your passion intersects with your skills. Start by asking yourself the hard questions. Where do you see yourself excelling with genuine enthusiasm? What are the tasks that you find both challenging and rewarding? It's often in the overlap of joy and skill that a career pathway becomes clear. Networking can be a beacon during this time. Connect with industry professionals, seek informational interviews, and attend events. Each conversation can shed light on opportunities you might never have considered. Don't shrug off the value of professional development either. Whether it's courses, certifications, or seminars, each learning opportunity can provide a puzzle piece to your career jigsaw. And above all, be open to experimentation. Each role you assume is a lesson, a step closer to where you need to be, even if it doesn't feel right at the moment. If this resonates with you, I'd love to hear how you've navigated these crossroads. Found your calling after a career detour? Share your journey! 💡👣 #CareerClarity #ProfessionalGrowth #CareerChange

During my MBA job search journey, I had to do over 200+ coffee chats. With a lot of trials and errors, I developed a simple formula that made networking less intimidating—and much more effective. Here’s my 3-step networking formula that worked for me: 1️⃣ Start with Warm Introductions Begin with people who share a connection to you—alumni, mutual connections, or event attendees. 👉 Example: During my MBA, I reached out to alumni from my program who worked in roles I aspired to. I’d open with something like, “I’m an MBA candidate at Emory, and I see that you’ve transitioned into product management after your MBA. I’d love to hear about your experience!” Starting with a shared connection builds trust and makes the conversation flow naturally. 2️⃣ Personalize Your Outreach A generic “Hi, can you help me?” message won’t cut it. Instead, research the person’s background and mention something specific about why you’re reaching out. I learned that their career transition or their seniority in a job would be a good topic to talk about. 👉 Example: When I reached out to a Senior Product Manager, I noted their career transition from teaching to tech industry: “Your career path really stood out to me, and I’d love to learn about how you approached it.” Personal touches show genuine interest and set you apart from the crowd. 3️⃣ Follow Up and Show Gratitude After the conversation, thank them for their time and share a key takeaway from your chat. 👉 Example: A simple email like: “Thank you for sharing your journey into product management! Your advice about [specific topic] was incredibly helpful, and I’m excited to implement it in my own career.” Not only does this leave a lasting impression, but it also strengthens the connection for future interactions. This formula didn’t just help me land job interviews—it also taught me that networking isn’t about asking for a job. It’s about building relationships and learning from others. What networking strategies have worked for you? Or, if you’re struggling to get started, feel free to drop your questions in the comments—I’d love to help! #NetworkingTips #CareerGrowth #ProfessionalNetworking #MBAJourney #NetworkingSuccess
