Web3 gaming is not ready for mass adoption of AAA games. 🚨 Even big Web2 publishers like Activision, Ubisoft, and EA haven’t had breakout hits in 2024. The reasons for this include: • High costs of development that range from $50 million to $300 million • Need a large player base to be profitable • No in-game asset ownership That’s the bad news. ❌ However, there is good news. ✅ Indie games have had significant success, despite the odds: • 50% never surpass $1000 in revenue • Only 1% earn over $7M in revenue They've held the five highest-grossing games on Steam in 2024 and consist of 42% Web3 games. While AAA games aren't there yet, gamers are ready for indie games.
