A heartwarming moment at our own headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach 🥹 23-year-old Karl Vilips is headed to the PGA TOUR, but not before he was surprised with the Korn Ferry Tour Rookie of the Year award. We captured this special moment in our Screening Room by showing Karl a video of his journey to this point, and bringing in his close friend Michael Thorbjornsen with the trophy. Stay for the tears!

I got one of those little plastic sets and he just started off with one of those at the age of 2. Whether it was soccer ball or hitting a tennis ball is he had amazing hand eye coordination when I was 3 and I loved all the golf players and then I got better and better and better when I keep watching the golf. The interview there, I mean, I remember that interview like it's night and day. I mean like. Just the thoughts that I was going through there like ohh I love golf. Just cause everyone else seemed really good at it. They had professionals at clubs would come up to me and say don't you realise the ridiculously small odds of your son making it? And my usual reply would be, So what you're saying then is that there is a chance? If there's a small chance, why can't he be the kid that makes it? My dad on the voiceovers, awesome. I love that it's that's so him just if if you're so you're saying there's a chance it's just this is what he's like. He had a lot of expectation coming into the college game that he's going to win everything. He's the number one recruit in the country. He's been kind of the number one in the class over a period of time. I think if I had capsulated my first two years into one like he, he wouldn't have said the same thing. I think I had a turning point when I was there to try and prove to everybody that I, you know, I had to put in the work to be who I wanted to be. And I think he caught on to that and it's really cool. Hear him say that because I know he wouldn't say it to my face. He was the best junior golfer in the world, one of my closest friends. And I felt like that was really cool being able to go to college with him. We pushed each other to try and be the best and I I feel like we both did a good job of doing that for a good four years when we were little, like it was like trading World Championships. So we've been pushing each other for over a decade now and to see that continue through Junior Golf and then especially. College golf, and we also both wanted to be in the position that we're in right now. Carl Phillips, the individual PAC 12 champion. Congratulations to Phillips. We landed in Arizona for that PAC 12 championship and then everything clicked that week at a great time because then I rolled that momentum through regionals, which I didn't play great individually, but I helped my team get to nationals, which gave me that opportunity to be in contention and have it. Strong finish there to barely sneak me into that top ten, which was huge. Definitely exactly the finish that I was looking for to end my college career and get my first win, which I had wanted for a long time. Monday qualified for the Ascendant top 25. He's way finished second at the MV5. The next big thing? In golf is arrived Carl Village, 22 years old, a winner in just his fourth start on the Korn Ferry Tour. I was a basket case. I needed a box of Kleenex. Honestly, we just never expected him to be at this point so quickly. He's just seems right at home, which is great here with Coral Billups, I want to be the first to congratulate you on television that you are going to the PGA Tour. Congratulations. Thank you. Carl, on behalf of the Korn Ferry Tour, I would like to congratulate you on being the 2024 Corn Ferry Tour Rookie of the Year. Sam, congratulations. Korn Ferry Tour Rookie of the Year and PGA Tour put a Cray great time. I mean, who would have thunk back in June that you'd be where you are now, mate, Congratulations, you've worked hard for it. You've got it, albeit a bit earlier than we expected, but hell, who's going to complain about that, right? Have a good time, enjoy it. These will be the best years of your lives. I think I lost it when my dad showed up. I just thinking about everything that I've been through and. Yeah, that's a very special honor. I mean, you only get one opportunity to do this and. Umm. That's really cool. And then my dad showed up. It's it's bad. I didn't expect it. Oh my God, what is going on? Hey, man. Congratulations, Rookie of the Year, the car Free Tour, man, it's really cool to watch. I think I'm on a really good path. I've got a great group of people around me on my team and outside of golf. To be the best person I can be and think about things the right way. I think I could be tied up for a lot of success out there.

- In an ideal world, the PGA Tour should be 20-22 tournaments from January to August. I know that’s not every week. Then have some tournaments go to the Korn Ferry Tour just throwing random names – (Cognizant), a Valero, a Dominican, those are Korn Ferry majors, you win one of those and you get promoted (in-season). It’s just an idea of having it where two signature events in a row, week off, three on, whatever it needs to be to where the top guys don’t have to play every week; they are still playing together but it’s 120 (man fields). If you get your card through Korn Ferry, it’s top 20 or top 25, you’re in those. Exciting update: Celebrating Anita Alvarez who is now an Olympic silver medalist alongside her Team USA in the artistic swimming competition. More incredible, the victory marks the first time the United States has medaled in the event since 2004. The idiom "get back on the horse", or in this case, get back in the pool, delivered an exceptional result, reminding us all to keep fighting for our dreams!🏆 At the World Aquatics Championships in Budapest, Hungary, Anita Alvarez, the two-time Olympian finished her free solo routine, passed out, and sunk to the bottom of the pool. Looking across the pool, her coach, Andrea Fuentes, noticed she was under too long and without hestitation jumped in fully clothed pulling her up to safety. Anita was fully unconscious and had no way to kick to the surface and save herself. And if her coach hadn’t known her as well as she did, she certainly would have drowned. When I saw this story, I asked myself: When you are under too long, who are the people who will pull you to the surface when you lose your strength? Are you surrounding yourself with those who pay attention and put others first? Do you lead by example? And can someone count on you to provide that needed strength when they don’t have it? Jim Rohn’s famous quote “You Are The Average Of The 5 People You Spend The Most Time With”, is not just in your personal life, it is all encompassing. If you’re a leader, hire people who emulate the traits you respect and can do the same for others on the team. Choose an employer that stands for something important to you. We have choices, lead and live by example.
