MIPCOM 2024 Wrap-Up: Adapting and Innovating in Cannes This year’s MIPCOM in Cannes welcomed 10,500 delegates from 110 countries, including 3,240 buyers, slightly down from last year’s 11,000. The event, marking its 40th anniversary, featured 347 exhibitors, up from 320 in 2023, with 34 country pavilions—10 of which were new. U.S. buyers led the contingent, followed by the U.K., France, Germany, and Spain. Lucy Smith, director of MIPCOM Cannes and MIP LONDON at RX France, emphasized the importance of flexibility and innovation, noting that “flexibility feels like a new market buzzword.” Highlights included the debut of the MIP Innovation Lab, which spotlighted tech-led trends like FAST, AI, and connected TV, and an expanded Producers Hub focused on building new partnerships. This advancement marks a significant milestone for app developers and enterprises, paving the way for the creation of new tools to craft secure and seamless digital experiences.   📍 Discussions at the event echoed last year's focus on SMS OTP, with indications pointing towards its gradual decline as its cost escalates.   📍 Did you know that only 10% of devices globally are returned, and just 35% of them make it back to the market for a second life? At MWC, sustainability emerged as a central theme, underscoring the crucial role of manufacturers in minimizing environmental impact.
