Folks don't believe me when I tell them 15 cars EVERY DAY hit a train at 1 of America's 180,000 railroad crossings. This tragic accident seems like suicide or stupidcide. Read it- 2 dead in Michigan. I know adding in-vehicle alerting using V2X technology pioneered and nationally deployed by HAAS Alert will reduce the collision rate-- but not to zero because some people ignore everything. For the typical distracted driver it will be a life saver to get visual, audial and haptic real time geolocated alerts of approaching trains. V2X applied to trains needs to be tested on Michigan roads to lead Smart Connected Car Safety.
