A buffer stop #impact test, also known as a buffer stop #collision test, is a critical safety procedure conducted in the railway industry to ensure the reliability and effectiveness of buffer stops (also called bumpers or bumping posts). These devices are placed at the #end of railway #tracks to prevent rail vehicles from #overshooting the track end. #Purpose of the Test The primary aim is to: 1- Assess the buffer stop's ability to absorb kinetic energy during a collision. 2- Ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and infrastructure by preventing or minimizing damage in case of a runaway vehicle. 3- Verify that the buffer stop meets regulatory and safety standards.
