Almost dirty Email marketing secrets from the STRIP CLUB… So, many years ago… Well… when I turned 19 to be exact… I was officially legal to start going to bars (in Canada)... And for my 19th birthday a bunch of friends decided to baptize me in their ways and take me out to party. Well, to say the least… We got drunk-stricken and rowdy rather quickly as young men naturally do. But then, out of nowhere… One of my buddies came up with a “bright idea”. “Why don't we go across the street to the rippers?”, he shouted. “Hell ya!” shouted the crowd of 19 year old Portuguese and Italian young men that stumbled across the street… Resembling a scene straight out of Jersey Shore. Then, as we entered past the dank, dark doorway… It was like nothing I had ever seen before. But, don’t worry… I'll save you the graphic details 😉 Now, being a younger guy that was brought up Roman Catholic in a very strict Italian family… This went against everything I was ever taught. So, I decided to not partake in all the “fun”… And decided to sit along the sidelines, and spectate. Now, to be completely honest with you… At first, I couldn't understand why all these guys were just handing all their money away. Because, let’s face it… They weren’t getting anything of real “value.” But, you know what? Recently, I actually came to the shocking revelation as to why this happens. And, that’s because it’s something I do in almost all the emails I write… But, I don't need to take my clothes off to do it 😎 Now, this one thing… Is something that works over, and over and over on just about every form of copy I write, too And, it's not writing enticing benefit driven copy… It's not sprinkling in curiosity… And definitely not using dimensionalizing language. It’s because they’re buying into the feeling of what they want from that value. Strip clubs, not unlike porn, are a representation of the ideal. And people chase the ideal, even if It doesn’t provide real, tangible value. It still makes them feel good for a little while.
