In today’s interconnected and rapidly changing world, diversity and inclusion are no longer optional for organisations—they’re essential for long-term success and meaningful impact. As a large brand like Good Food with significant influence, we bear a unique responsibility not only to identify diverse talent but to actively nurture, develop, and empower individuals from varied backgrounds to contribute to and shape our industry. Beyond being the right thing to do, prioritising diverse talent unlocks creativity and fosters innovation. When we invest in diverse talent, we strengthen our teams, our industry, and our communities. This is why I’m thrilled about Good Food’s Rising Stars 2024. Building #companyculture is often incremental - taking small steps to show employees they are appreciated and valued can go a long way towards improving engagement (which in turn can do everything from increase sales, and profitability and reduce turnover). Some ideas for July: Vacation comms blackouts. - Build systems and processes so when people take vacation, they are on vacation. This goes for you too. Don't be the guy jumping on routine Zoom meetings from the beach while your family is out making sandcastles and memories. July is national hot dog month, national grilling month, and national ice cream month. Relationships are strengthened over food. Bonus points if the leadership team is doing the cooking. Farmers' markets should be hitting their stride - send someone down to pick up whatever is in season - peaches, cherries, melons, etc for the break room. Keep the troops cool - stock popsicles or flavor ice and drinks, especially if they are working in the heat. Take care of your people, and they will take care of you.

Here is THREE tips I learned from being a serial founder. Tip 1: When there is challenge, there is opportunity. I've always been recognized for asking all the right questions wherever I go.
