Happy holiday people. Whilst rounding off with the deliverables on my table at office last weekend, I stumbled on the @afamefuna2023 trailer, and guess what.. my hook was “An Nwa-boy production”. That line brings so much memories to me, having spent my formative years around Alaba International Market, and living among Igbo brethren with their community of apprentices. Predominantly occupied by the Igbos, who took pride in building family wealth by including teaching business to the younger and interested ones, Alaba is like a nation of its own. So, I decided to see this movie and I must say it’s a well crafted line of story, properly captured in concept of igbo business apprenticeship… but I didn’t enjoy the protagonist and antagonist perspective of the movie, because can anyone tell me why Afamefuna was settled before Paulo, his senior colleague? Now, the story does not keep an account of Paulo stealing from their boss, thereby tarnishing the business, instead, he portrayed a great salesman with a high sense of customer service and retention skills; he waded in on transactional cases to ensure customers bought goods as seen in one of the scenes. Interestingly, for some reasons the boss let his favour fall on the main character (which seems quite usual to me). There is almost no one who will not breed contempt or hate if found in Paulo’s position. It simply shows that in rewarding efforts, sensitivity is key. Notice that Paulo lived miserably after that singular act. So, every leader must be sensitive to the feelings of other team members. My little review.🤗

Day in the life of an Office Manager at RDS Fire and Security Ltd 06:15 🕒🔑 Arrive at the office. This isn't my usual start time but it's sometimes nice to get started while it's quiet. Morning rituals start with a check-in on emails & prioritising tasks for the day to ensure deadlines are met. 08:00 🕒✔️ The team starts to arrive. It's Wednesday so it's nice to have a midweek check into make sure everyone is on track with their weekly tasks and ready for the day ahead. 09:15 🕒📦 Assist with a large delivery that arrived at the office. We have a couple of large projects about to begin! Follow our page for updates on these! 10:30 🕒🚐 Meeting with my fleet manager. We are in our next stage of growth with some new team members joining us very soon, so it was a perfect opportunity to make sure everyone is on the same page with the plan for new vehicles. 11:30 🕒📝 There's a board meeting at the office today so I join our directors to provide updates on areas in the business that I am responsible for. 14:30 🕒📞 A call with our local college to discuss apprenticeships. We are currently interviewing and finalising our 2024 intake of apprentices! Keep an eye out on our page for updates on vacancies! 15:00 🕒✔️ Finishing off typing up amendments to one of our processes. Every Monday the admin team meets, and off the back of this weeks meeting we had come up with ideas on how we can improve one of our processes. The changes were approved and the amended process is now officially live! Always good to look for ways to improve the process to give our clients the best possible service! 15:45 🕒📝 As my working day comes to an end I like to take a final look over my TO-DO list, and start preparing bits for tomorrow. 16:00 🕒💫 That's a wrap!

What would your bodyshop do differently if you weren’t afraid? We are going to table great questions like this at IBIS Australia this week, together with others like.... What's the difference between leading a business and operating a bodyshop? Knowing what you know now, what would you do differently and why? What defines a “good repair” today and how has that changed? Capability – are we ready to Transform Tomorrow Together? Apprentices - how would they design an apprentice programme for others? What happens when you tear up the 5 day working week model? and... What does good succession planning look and feel like? #smashrepairs #crashrepairs #bodyshop #acccidentrepair #collisionrepair #australia #thoughtleadership #worldclassnetworking #mustattendevent

⭐ 𝙍𝙚𝙨𝙪𝙡𝙩𝙨 𝘿𝙖𝙮 ⭐ Yesterday the UK saw thousands of young people open their much-anticipated A-level results. I remember that morning 12 years ago myself, nervously opening the letter! Tears of joy from some, and tears of uncertainty from others as their plans suddenly changed. I for one didn't receive the outcome I was hoping for, and that's 𝗢𝗞𝗔𝗬. Grades aren't a measure of who 👉 𝗬𝗢𝗨 👈 are or what you have to offer. There'll be plenty out there now thinking of the #future, so what a great time to showcase #Sodexo and its endless #opportunities! At Sodexo it's more than just a job, we offer life-long #careers! Sodexo has long been committed to creating employment opportunities and enabling colleagues to #thrive through #apprenticeships. In 2021, we committed to considering all vacancies and job roles as apprenticeships wherever possible. Since the launch of that pledge, over 1,000 apprentices have started their training at Sodexo, with more than 600 graduating in that same period. 𝗔𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗻𝘂𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆 𝗴𝗿𝗼𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴! 📈 🙌 (Including me, I'm one of those 1000!) So whether you're looking for a fresh start, a new path or simply a change, check out our opportunities available at Sodexo 👉 https://lnkd.in/eAmHxSRz #Apprenticeships #Vocationallearning #Onthejob #EarlyCareers #FacilitiesManagement #Technical #Administration #HR #Catering #Cheftraining #Corporate #ContractManagement #FacilitiesCareers #CareerPath #Startyourjourney #NewBeginnings #Belong #Act #Thrive

Louie Banta: High Standards, Big Heart So grateful that Lucy Cheng-Dy and I were included in LJMB Training's 19th anniversary celebration held last August 13 at the Makati Shangri-la. It was a delectable night of toasts, speeches, camaraderie, games and of course, great food. The highlight was his inspiring recount of how he left a steady job in October 2004 with only 3000 pesos left in his wallet, stepped out in faith and guts with his own L&D firm, overcame the pandemic crisis that threatened to shut down his business, and revigorated the company into the powerhouse, global training provider it is today. Reflecting on his story, I came up with these learnings: 1. Never despise humble beginnings. You'll never know where it will take you to. 2. Given a choice between loving your clients and possessing great skill, go for the love. Of course, Master Louie exemplifies both. LJMB has come to be synonymous with world-class excellence. 3. Build your reputation to the point that clients chase you, not you chasing them. You won't even need a marketing budget. 4. Multiply your effectiveness through a thoughtfully assembled team that values passion, excellence, creativity and hard work. Oh, and recognize their contribution and reward them well. 5. Treat your external trainers as family, too. I am privileged to be a partner coach for LJMB's clients. Go out your way to show them that you care and don't be stingy in sharing your wisdom. 6. The dark night is the birthplace of your most brilliant strategies (yes, I am referring to 2020). 7. Harness the latest technology. Do it before your competitors do. 8. Give back. Do you know that LJMB has adopted a home for the elderly, gives free leadership training to companies too small to pay for his workshops, and offers valuable internship experience to young people? 9. In spearheading people development, LJMB's role in nation-building is incalculable. 10. The Master is just getting started. Here's to a resplendent 20th anniversary and beyond. Congratulations, Louie, Laraine Zyreen Marcelo, MPM, CSSGB-T, John Eldrine Roxas, CHRA, CSSGB-T and the rest of the LJMB team! May God further establish the works of your hands. #LJMB #greatwork #learninganddevelopment #training
