Community is a core value for me. When We Are For Good, Jon McCoy, CFRE, Becky Endicott, CFRE, Abby Fox call to bring the motto "Community is Everything" to life in a local activation, I had to join. A strong community aligns around common goals, shares skills, pools resources, and nurtures curiosity and passion, inspiring each other to achieve what might seem impossible alone. Something big launched for the impact sector - registration is open for #ImpactUp, an event brought to you by We Are For Good—my favorite impact community to learn, gather, and activate to make a positive shift in the world. On July 11, join me + thousands of do-gooders for one day of conversation + convening to help awaken collective power. By night, the We Are For Good Community hosts local meet-ups in 15+ cities nationwide. I've signed us up to gather Los Angeles Do-gooders. We’re shifting the way we do good. The Compassion Collective is far from your typical startup nonprofit. We are a co-created community organization fueled by a collective mission that is dynamically evolving. As its founder, I merely set the stage with a vision—a vision that envisions the community itself actively shaping our collective future. Though it might seem straightforward, the concept involves deep complexity, demanding an embrace of diversity and nuance to make this vision a tangible reality. However, I am not the architect working in isolation; the realization of this vision is the achievement of our remarkable core team and all our members, whose diverse skill sets and unyielding passion are the true driving forces behind our progress. We are currently self-sustaining as we finalize our co-created bylaws and the innovative system design that defines our community. Our approach to consent-based governance is a steadfast commitment, not a fleeting idealism, and holarchical generative system design is not just a theory but a practical reality we are bringing to life. In today’s regenerative leadership meeting, two of our core team members brilliantly showcased their ability to transform my synpractic concepts into a practical handbook for all future members. Additionally, the collective mind-mapping abilities of these autists are truly remarkable These acts exemplify how the culture of the Compassion Collective is not only formed by its people but continually rejuvenated by them—as new members and fresh ideas perennially come to the table. Our table is designed to be exceptionally inclusive, embracing asynchrony to allow for diverse forms of participation. To those who doubted the feasibility of our vision, The Compassion Collective stands as proof of concept. It's exhilarating to anticipate more members joining us on this journey, witnessing firsthand how community healing and organizational growth can be mutually reinforcing. ✨👏 Last month, I had the privilege of joining an inspiring panel for Citizen Sessions led by ØLÅF. I always enjoy speaking at events - but sometimes one comes along that feels extra special… Serious hats off to Karolina Wereszczyńska for organising the event, and to Olaf Hussein for the community he’s created. The vibe in the room, the audience, my fellow panellists – it all felt electric ⚡️ Maybe it was because the focus of the talk was about #impact, #empowerment and #givingback, or maybe it was all of these ingredients coming together. I have to admit, I was in no small awe hearing Mary Consolata Namagambe's entrepreneurial journey and about the impact she’s driving with She for She Pads, creating reusable period products in Uganda with local communities. It made me think for a moment… what is it that I actually do? But Ashlee Janelle Danso's skilled moderation and the audience’s thought-provoking questions brought me back to my mission and myself. Our conversation flowed through: ✨ What kick started us and what keeps us going ✨ Why we’re dedicated to making a difference and how we built strategies around it ✨ Right through to our biggest challenges and our best tips those starting out ❣️ It made me proud of being a business owner and a founder with a focus on #impact, sharing why it isn’t an afterthought, and why its at the core of our business model. Sometimes while you’re running a business you’re so busy - running - you don’t stop to recognise and celebrate the difference you’ve been part of creating.
