I learned something in my first job, was when I was 15, that I've never forgotten. I spent the summer after my freshman year of high school sacking groceries at a brand-new Skaggs Alpha Beta in Plano, Texas. What did I learn? How to pack a grocery bag. Done rightly, it's actually somewhat elegant, an interlocking puzzle of space and form. 😎 I can count on two hands the number of grocery stores I've been through SINCE THEN (that's 30+ years) that packed my groceries properly. So where did that packing knowledge go? Does anyone know? Is this taught and promptly forgotten by sackers? I raise this because this one skill - simple to teach - could be a HUGE customer service differentiator for grocery chains. At least those that still haven't outsourced their labor to their customers. That was the only time I worked in a grocery store. Never forgot what I learned. Anybody need this taught? Seriously, it makes life easier. #customerservice #lifeskills #grocerystores #learninganddevelopment

We were earwigging on one of our Development Coach's sessions the other week and were so inspired by it that we couldn't gatekeep ✨ Moments like these are reasons why we love the office environment. We're constantly being inspired. So, what was the coaching session? Cross-selling vs Upselling 🌱 And what piqued our interest? THE GOLDEN ARCHES. Making education relevant to your target audience is so important to provoke memory. And hearing Sam discuss the differences between cross-selling and upselling through reference to McDonalds, was a great reminder of this. So, what is the difference? Cross-selling is the offer of additional complimenting products: 'Do you want fries with that?' And Upselling is offering a more premium product: 'Is that a large for 50p more?" Now we're hungry!! 🍟🍔 #SalesExcellence #Development #TrainingProvider

Before summer break, I was invited to my daughter’s school Advanced Generations Schools for Career Day. Purpose? To explain what I do in supply chain to a group of curious 2nd graders. Easier said than done Right!!!? As I stood in front of a room full of wide-eyed 7-year-olds, I quickly realized that talking about logistics, operations, and global trade wasn’t going to cut it. So, I tried something different. I asked them, “Who likes pizza?” Instantly, hands shot up, and smiles spread across their faces. I said, “Imagine you’re really hungry and want pizza. But to get that pizza, someone needs to grow the wheat for the dough, make the cheese, pack everything up, and then bring it all to the pizzeria.” Their eyes lit up as they started to understand. “That’s what I do—I help make sure everything gets where it needs to be, so you can enjoy your pizza without waiting too long.” By the end of the session, these kids knew more about supply chains than they probably expected. And I walked away with a renewed sense of purpose, reminded that at the heart of it all, our work is about making life a little better for everyone—whether it’s a 2nd grader craving pizza or a company needing timely deliveries. Sometimes, breaking down complex concepts isn’t just about simplifying—it’s about finding a connection that resonates. And in that classroom, pizza was the perfect metaphor. #CareerDay #SupplyChain #Inspiration #Leadership
