It’s not every day you get to sit down with such bright minds and dive deep into 𝐡𝐨𝐰 𝐀𝐈 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐲 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤 𝐢𝐧 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐚𝐬𝐬𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐞. From 𝐝𝐚𝐭𝐚 𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐜𝐲 to building 𝐀𝐈 𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐬, and the challenges some organizations face in adopting AI—it’s clear we’re on the cusp of major change. There was so much to take away, and I’m incredibly thankful to our panelists for sharing their wealth of knowledge. 𝐀 𝐛𝐢𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐤𝐬 𝐭𝐨 Atul Srivastava, Lori Gracey, and Danielle Duran Baron, —your perspectives and time made this session impactful for everyone in attendance. What stood out to me the most? The range of 𝐚𝐩𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐀𝐈 𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐩𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧—from organizations eager to innovate, to those approaching it with caution and clear policies in mind. Both sides shared valuable lessons, and I’m still processing all the great insights! 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐨𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐬: 𝐌𝐲 𝐉𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐬 𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐉𝐮𝐝𝐠𝐞 I am pleased to share my experience as a judge for the Technovation Challenge, which is designed to foster interest in Artificial Intelligence among young women around the globe. As my first initiative with #EYRipples, I had the privilege of taking a front-row seat to witness the creativity and potential of tomorrow's leaders, builders, and entrepreneurs. Supporting these future changemakers as they showcased innovative ideas on leveraging AI to address societal issues such as inequality, hunger, and the climate crisis has been truly inspiring. Reviewing teams’ submissions across the three divisions for girls aged between 8 and 18, in two rounds of quarterfinals and semifinals was incredibly satisfying. In addition to being inspired by these bright young women, this also enhanced my transformational leadership skills, built my advisory expertise, and expanded my network. We are now a growing community of over 100 EY professionals passionate about using responsible AI as a catalyst to empower youth, uplift communities, and drive sustainability. Reflecting on this journey, I am certain that empowering young minds with AI knowledge can unlock unparalleled opportunities for societal advancement. It's about creating a future where innovation drives positive change. As the Executive Sponsor of Vector Institute's DEI Committee, I am deeply committed to championing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives. In light of AI's transformative potential and its pervasive impact on organizations, it is crucial to ensure that these advancements align with DEI goals - which is why I was so glad to see Deloitte release this latest study and article around it... Key points they noted from about 71 Chief DEI officers were: - 78% believe their organizations uphold DEI commitments alongside AI investments. - Only 35% feel their boards involve DEI teams in AI impact discussions. - 97% of HR leaders report improved DEI outcomes, only 35% of Chief DEI officers agree that DEI strategies evolve with AI. - Only 12% note the creation of AI roles fostering diverse perspectives. - A mere 37% implement impact assessments to counter AI biases. As I reflect on the study, it feels to me like an easy ask for executives in roles within their organization to keep DEI at the heart of what they do - especially in the roll out of AI products/ services... Chief DEI officers (If you have one of those or an Executive Champion) should participate in AI strategy development, ensuring equity-centered perspectives are integrated. This would ideally help drive AI literacy, enhancing responsible and ethical AI usage as well as establish trust in AI by aligning it with human values and organizational commitments. 👩💼Women in leadership in financial services policy👩💼 Last week I had the pleasure of joining a meeting of the women in leadership network of DG FISMA, the part of EU Economy and Finance that deals with financial services policy. The network is a place where female managers can meet and support each other. Our conversation touched on what matters to women in terms of career progression, our motivation and some of the unique challenges we face in getting into management roles. We spoke about how the workplace and society can comment harshly on women’s ambition and assertiveness. We also discussed the significant challenges which continue to affect women entering the job market, particularly related to care of children and older relatives. The truth is caring roles do not get rewarded enough. Innovative technologies, especially AI, may reshape our appreciation of those in the caring profession who cannot be replaced by AI. While AI might be able to replace the skills of some of today’s highly paid professionals. A societal rebalancing?
