What is disability discrimination? Disabled people are protected in the workplace against direct and indirect disability discrimination, harassment and victimisation because of their disability. Disability discrimination legislation covers disabled employees, but also disabled job applicants in the recruitment process. Under the Equality Act 2010, an employer has an active duty to make reasonable adjustments for a disabled person where its policies or practices, or physical feature of its premises, put a disabled employee at a substantial disadvantage in comparison with a non-disabled person. Americans & Texans alike have rights against disability discrimination. In the United States, federal laws like the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) make disability discrimination illegal in various areas including the workplace, public spaces, and education. These laws apply to all states, including Texas. Disability discrimination is when individuals with disabilities are treated less favorably because of their disability. This discrimination can happen in employment, education, access to public places, and provision of services and facilities. Employees who believe that they were terminated, demoted, or not hired because of a disability, or those who were denied a reasonable accommodation after requesting one, should speak with an experienced employment law attorney as soon as possible. Whether it’s Special Olympics , The Arc of the United States or REV UP who helps disabled voters get registered I firmly believe we need to remind people that we are voting and that we have rights that need to be met! What are YOU going to do about SSI? What are YOU going to do about SSDI? What are YOU going to do about ending the Disability Marriage penalty? What are YOU going to do about protecting Disability Healthcare? What are YOU going to do about about Respecting and Protecting the Rights Disabled people have in the ADA? (Americans with Disabilities act) We have many people that can represent from the North to the South, The East to the West our nation is filled with people that are helped by these organizations. We need to visible. We need to be heard. I think a think a video featuring Disabled Self Advocates from these organizations would do both! Especially if this Video were run before a debate. Solo I can only do so much. TOGETHER we can make a great impact. https://lnkd.in/gVcPSZwx #Disability #Unity #DisabilityRightsAreHumanRights #Capability #TogetherWeCanDoSoMuch
